Research associate/postdoctoral fellow position at SUNY at Stony Brook

The Wireless and Networking Systems (WINS) group at the State University of New York at Stony Brook is seeking a research associate/postdoctoral fellow with a strong research background in wireless communications and networking area. Candidates should have or be close to finishing a PhD degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a relevant field of study.

The candidate would generally focus on software defined/cognitive radios, multiple antenna systems, spectrum management, as well as their cross-layer design with wireless network techniques. The candidate is expected to be familiar with recent wireless communications techniques, specially, strong background/experience on MIMO and OFDM, as well as one or more of the following areas: detection and estimation, multi-user communications, spectral analysis, scheduling, as well as power and rate control. Experiences with protocol design for MAC and routing in ad hoc networks, strong background in information and communication theory, as well as network algorithms and optimization are a plus.

WINS lab in Stony Brook University is associated with the newly established Center of Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology of New York state. Besides government sponsored projects, there are many opportunities to work on projects sponsored by industries in Long Island and New York areas. The candidate’s work will include collaboration with our industrial partners and PhD students working in related areas.

The position is available immediately. The position can be filled initially for 12 months, with a strong possibility of extension for additional 1-2 years depending on the candidate's performance and the availability of funds.
