Welcome to Sparta Montessori

We are off to a great start at Lakeview Montessori! At any time you have questions or concerns regarding your child’s education, please do not hesitate to give us a call. We want you and your child to have a positive learning experience at Lakeview Montessori.

Please take a few moments to review the information in this folder. We hope that you will find the information valuable. Please be sure to note the items in the “Return to School” side of this folder. They need your attention and will need to be return to school by September 11th. If you haven’t turned in your “BLUE” Student Registration/Emergency Form, please do so. This helps keeps our information up to date on your child.

We ask that all families complete the Free/or Reduce Lunch Application (one per family) even if you feel you do not qualify. You should of received an application from our district office, if not, please stop in the office, and Mrs. James will have them for you to fill out. If you have qualified for free or reduced meals last year, this will carry through until the September 30, 2015. However, to qualify for this school year, you must reapply. Contact the school office if you are in need of a form.

School starts on Tuesday, September 1, 2015. Students may begin arriving no earlier than 7:30 a.m. Children’s House (PreK & Kindergarten) and E1(1, 2, & 3 years) students’ school day begins with the morning warning bell ringing at 7:50 a.m. E2 students’ school day begins at 7:55 a.m., they can start arriving at 7:20 a.m. Your help in having your child arrive promptly for school is so necessary and appreciated. Children’s House and E1 students’ should arrive no later than 7:50 so they have time to make their lunch choices plus get their home folders and backpacks ready for class. If your child intends to eat breakfast, they should arrive before 7:45 a.m. All children riding the busses will be given the opportunity to eat breakfast even if the bus is running a few minutes late.

Children’s House and E1 students are dismissed at 2:55 p.m. If you pick your child up after school, or drop you child off for school in the morning, please use the Aquatic Parking Lot. To avoid unsafe conditions and congestion in the front of our school DO NOT park or drop off where only the busses are to be dropping students off.

The first few days of school may bring some minor problems with busing schedules, so please be patient as we work these out. You can help us get your child home safely by completing the transportation form that was sent to you early this summer. If you haven’t received conformation on busing, please go on line and fill it out as soon as possible to ensure your child has busing. If you have any questions, call Lamers at 366-1925.

If your child will not be attending school due to illness or for any other reason, please call the school office at 366-3468 to inform us of this. Please remember also to call the school or send a note if your child will be following a different routine at dismissal time. If we get no note or message, your child will follow his/her normal routine. You can also contact us via the Lakeview Montessori website at Click on Lakeview Montessori on the select a school menu.

Stranger Danger

We have a school policy that is in place to protect your student from any strangers that my enter the school or be on school grounds.

  1. All guests, no matter how short your stay, must sign in at the office with Mrs. James. There you will get a “Visitor Badge” to wear while you are in the building or on the grounds.
  1. If you are a parent who is dropping off or picking up your student you do not need a Visitor Badge because you will not be going further than the gym. If you need to conference with your student’s teacher then you will need a Guest Badge.
  1. Having a Guest Badge is imperative because over the next week we will be instructing the students on Stranger Danger and the only way for each student to know that a guest is not a stranger, and that they are not in any danger, is by having a badge on. This is also why all staff is required to have their ID on at all times. They will be instructed to report anyone without a badge to their teacher.
  1. We understand that situations come up where you are in a hurry to pick up your student or need to get them a little early and do not have time to sign in for the Guest Badge. If this is the case, please stop in the office and Mrs. James can call to the room and we can send your student down. As a staff we have been instructed that if we see anyone without a badge, we need to direct that person to the office, no matter how familiar they are to us.

We hope you see this as a positive change. By using this system it is just one more way for us to keep your child safe when he/she is in our care.
