Volunteer role: Digital marketing volunteer

Location: Victoria, London

Hours: Ideally a minimum of 2 days per week. This particuar project will last approximately two months and we hope that as a volunteer you will stay with us for the length of the project. There may be opportunity for continued volunteering after the project has finished.

Are you a proactive, adaptable and enthusiastic individual with an interest in digital marketing and great writing skills? Are you looking to gain hands on experience in an exciting digital role with responsibility and the chance to make your mark?

The Royal London Society for Blind People is a 175-year-old charity that helps vision impaired children and young people live beyond sight loss.

As we celebrate nearly two hundred years of work, we are going through enormous changes about how we better support the people we work with. Central to this is to raise awareness about the challenges that blind young people face in 21st Century Britain.

That’s where you come in. We have some huge, exciting events and campaigns coming up and need a creative and ambitious volunteer to help deliver this essential work.This position will give you the chance to gain invaluable digital publishing and marketing skills, and get the chance to make your mark in our dynamic marketing department.

Working closely with the Content Editor, Marketing Director and Online Communities Assistant, you will:

  • Write news stories, interviews and features for RLSB’s website
  • Update social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, Audioboo and LinkedIn, and help to run social media campaigns
  • Prepare images for online publication using Photoshop
  • Undertake research for marketing campaigns
  • Help analyse website statistics using Google Analytics
  • Manage RLSB’s Google AdWords account

What we are looking for:

  • A passion for digital media
  • Excellent writing skills
  • An understanding of social media trends and platforms
  • Fantastic organisation and communication skills
  • Enthusiasm to work with all teams across the organisation
  • A can do attitude
  • Audio and video editing skills would be a bonus

What you can expect from us:

  • You’ll be a central part of a small, creative comms team, with the opportunity to learn practical skills.
  • The chance to develop essential digital skills, such as using content management systems; running social media channels; working with audio and video content; and image editing.
