WindrushFlower Club
Dear Members
NewsletterJuly 2017
Newsletter for July, those of you who were at the meeting last month will have enjoyed an excellent demonstration by Gill McGregor “Summer Sensations” and they certainly were.
Gill hasbeen booked to host a workshop on 23 September 2017 to be held at Burwell Hall, 10 – 3.00pm. She will produce a list of what she will be doing and any unusual items she will bring with her and give a list of flowers, greenery required before hand.
As she does not have a “break for lunch” of very long, it is a thought to order fish and chips, or pies etc from the excellent Codfather chip shop opposite the hall that could be brought over. If this is something you would like please let me know during the JULY meeting.
Some members enjoyed an afternoon at Friars Court, Clanfield, despite the rain which did not stop us viewing the beautiful gardens. The history of the house and family was well recorded in a small museum and then the very good afternoon tea was very welcome.
Arrangements are now in hand for our July evening a “Summer Party”, outside caterers have produced a wonderful buffet menu that will be suitable for all tastes, we will have drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. A quiz will be put on each table and the competition will be “Wimbledon”. I hope you will all take part in this last one.
There will be NO Sales Table in July or September, if you require boxes of oasis or oasis rings for Christmas this needs to be given to Julie during the JULY meeting together with the money. Julie will not take any orders during the August break and will not be at the September meeting. The oasis will be at the October and November meeting and there will be no special orders for extra “Christmas” bits due to the closure of the club in January and we do not want to be left with a lot of stock.
We still have vacant volunteer spaces on our lists namely Demonstrator helper for September and November, Sales Table helpers for October and November and Vote of Thanks for October, please can someone come forward to help out in these areas.
There will be no orders taken for the “Flower Arranger” this year and no Christmas Stationery order ie. Calendars, diaries, cards etc.
If we don’t see you in July have a good break in August and we will start again in September.
Regards
Lyn Jones Chairman/Secretary
