The Tuckahoe School Foundation 2014-2015 College Scholarship Program

The foundation scholarship programseeks to acknowledge allstudents in the district who have achieved academic successby awarding two students with a TSF scholarship.

Eligibility:

Eligible candidates are current high school seniors who have been enrolled in the TuckahoeSchool District no less than three (3) years and have the sponsorship of a Tuckahoe Schools faculty member. The faculty sponsor shall provide a letter of recommendation in support of the foundation’s consideration for scholarship. In addition, candidates must be able to demonstrate:

  • Outstanding academic achievement with a minimum cumulative average of 86% through January 2015.
  • A commitment to learning and community service.
  • Participation in extra-curricular activities.

Scholarship Winners Will Receive:

Two (2) high school seniors will be selected to receive $2,000 each toward an accredited four-year college to which they have been admitted for full-time study. The scholarship may be used to pay tuition and/or room and board fees. Checks will be made payable to the college which the student will attend.

How to Apply:

Complete and submit (I) application form, (II) a listing of what you consider to be your most important activities and achievements, including academic honors, community service, work experience and extra-curricular activities written essay, (III) a faculty letter of recommendation (IV) and written essay. Applications will be considered by members of the Foundation and finalists should make themselves available for a possible interview.

Essay Topic:

In a brief essay (no more than two typed pages) describe an issue that affects you personally or your community (local, national global) and discuss how it could be changed for the better.

Deadline:

Your application, essay and list of activities and achievements and letter of recommendation should be placed in a sealed envelope addressed to the Tuckahoe School Foundation Scholarship Program and delivered toTuckahoe High School Guidance Office no later than May 18th 2015.Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. Scholarship recipients will be notified in early June 2015.
