17th May 2017
Dear Parent/Carer,
About 2 weeks until we go on School Journey! Many thanks to all who have paid for the trip. For those who haven’t yet, Mrs Windham will be contacting you- we require payment in full before the trip.
Below is a recommended kit-list.
- Towel for showering
- An additional towel for water activities
- Pyjamas
- Underwear and socks (please pack extra)
- Swimwear
- Warm, lightweight jumpers
- T-Shirts
- Loose-fitting trousers or leggings (no jeans please)
- One complete change of clothes to keep dry
- Old trainers, or ‘surf shoes’ to wear in the water - If you search ‘beach shoes’ on Amazon, you’ll see lots for under £6
- Trainers for other land activities
- ‘Disco outfit’
- Waterproof Jacket
- Toiletries
- Sunhat
- Suncream
- Labelled plastic water bottle
- Medication/Inhalers. Please bring these in clearly labelled on Monday, and give them directly to Mrs James. These should only consist of medication they have previously taken. Medication needs written instructions as to the dosage and timings. If your child is likely to require Piriton or Calpol, then thiswill need to be supplied. Should your child require an Epi-Pen, please ensure we have 2 in-date to take on the trip.
Optionals
- Pack of cards/small travel games
- Book
- £5 spending money (in change please and in a labelled purse)
- A stamped address envelope and pencil (to write a letter home)
Please remember that no electronic items will be allowed, except for a hairdryer. To clarify, this means no mobile phones, personal gaming devices, and/or straighteners etc. Any found will be confiscated. This is due to the fact we cannot ensure that they are secure.
Another plea is that the children don’t over-pack; each year, the bags have become progressively bigger and bigger and, at times, it has been hard to actually get the items onto the coach, not to mention the children being able to carry their own bags up flights of stairs once they arrive at the venue. Ms McCrossen has threatened every year to purchase a ‘Ryanair’ maximum luggage sizer, with those that don’t fit not being allowed on! So please bear this in mind when packing!
On the Monday morning, the children will congregate at 8:15am in the Large Hall. Goodbyes can be said here, although we will be walking up to The Crown to get onto the coach, so you could wave them off from there. We will be leaving The Crown at 9:00am.
If your child requires a travel sickness pill, please administer this as home as it needs time before it becomes effective.
Lastly, please don’t pack sweets, crisps, chocolate or fizzy drinks for your child to have as a ‘midnight snack’. This is to stop unnecessary illness and stomach upset, as eating sweets late at night invariably causes them to miss the next day’s exciting activities. They will be well fed- trust us!
Remember that the children require a packed lunch (including water) to enjoy on the journey down.
We are so looking forward to a lovely and well-deserved week away.
