2011SENIOR BULLETIN FOR

COMMENCEMENT EXERCISES

Commencement

Commencement begins at 2:00 pm on Sunday, June 5, 2011, in the gymnasium. Please go to the auditorium at exactly 1:15 pm and find your correct seat.

The tassel should be worn on the right side of your cap during the first part of the program. After the last diploma has been given and the last student is seated, the class officers will instruct you to change your tassel (all at once) to the left side on your cap.

Cap and Gown Guidelines for Commencement

Caps should be placed upon the head with the longer point of the crown to the back. The shorter point should be centered on the forehead down far enough so that the mortar board (top) is level. The cap should never be tipped on one side.

National Honor Society honor cords should be placed around the neck and hang down the front of the gown. Seniors should receive one cord per year of membership in the National Honor Society. The Copley High School Gold Medallions awarded at the awards assembly should be worn on the left side of the gown.

Clothes to Wear under Gown for Commencement

Female graduates – dress shoes, light colored dress, dressy pantsuit, or shirt and blouse (NO CASUAL SLACKS, JEANS OR SHORTS).

Male graduates – DRESS SHOES (shined with care), DRESS PANTS (NO JEANS OR SHORTS). Dress shirt and tie (no bow ties).

(Any Senior NOT meeting the dress requirement will not be allowed to participate in the Commencement program)

Pictures

This year, GradImages will take a color photo of each graduate receiving his/her diploma during graduation exercises. They will contact you via the email address you provided them concerning purchasing pictures.

Tickets Required for Graduation

Eight tickets per student

Financial and Other Obligations

Seniors having any obligations, financial or otherwise, will not receive their diploma until they are paid and/or taken care of.

Etiquette Guidelines

It is rude for the graduates to talk during any part of the program. We hope you give your undivided attention to the speeches and music that have been prepared for you. It is also rude to cheer or spontaneously applaud during the reading of graduates’ names. Failure to follow directions may delay you from receiving your diploma.

After Commencement

Your diploma will be presented to you during the Commencement exercises. After the exercises, go to the Commons for a short reception sponsored by the Copley High School Parent Teacher Student Associations (PTSA). Graduates are to keep caps, gowns and tassels as a remembrance of their graduation from CHS.
