Opening Remarks/Introductions

The project to create a youth football club/academy in the Park Farm area of Peterborough kicked off in concept form around January or February 2009 but did not actually come to be realised until April 2010 When Park Farm Football club/academy was formed.

The club was founded by Ciaran McAuley – who states that “We are a young football club formed to act as a vehicle for local children to take part in physical activity that provides them with an opportunity to learn valuable life skills such as teamwork, sportsmanship respect and discipline, while at the same time taking part in fun, playful sporting activities with their friends in a safe and controlled environment.”

The club has a wealth of coaching experience with several senior coaches being FA qualified, with assistant coaches working towards attaining FA qualifications. Since the club was founded the management have built up firm & lasting relationships with the local primary school – Heritage Park Primary which will be maintained and nurtured in the years to come. The management have also canvassed local business, councillors and the wider community for support resulting in funding from Peterborough City Council and a sponsorship deal with Marshall Honda.

The Club currently trains every Tuesday providing activities and learning for children from all over Peterborough aged between 5 and 9 years and we also organise matches against other clubs both in the Peterborough area and beyond in the wider Cambridgeshire & Huntingdonshire area. We currently have over 50 players registered with the club and our age ranges will expand with the continued growth of the club in the coming months and years.

We have and will continue to have an inclusive vision for this club – to provide high quality football coaching to players of all abilities in the wider Peterborough area and to instil the values inherent in this club into all of our players.

Annual Reviews

Under 5 and 6 Club / Academy

It has been a great privilege for me to coach this age group this year and I truly believe we have some of the most talented young footballers in the city. I have seen all the players in both Academy age groups flourish, develop and learn on a day to day, week on week basis. They have grasped the basics of dribbling, passing and shooting while also taking on board all aspects of positional awareness and the added pressures of teamwork in match play situations. We’ve managed to do all of that in one year and still managed to have a lot of fun doing it. Next season sees the current Under 6 squad move into an under 7 league to play against teams from around Peterborough. These players are the foundation on which this club is built and I am very proud of the efforts from each and every one of them, well done to all and bring on next season – GO PUMAS!!!!

Under 7 Club / Academy

The Under 7 squad has developed considerably under the guidance of Dave Dent and Allan Horne. Dave comes to the club with experience at older age groups around the city and put that experience to good use in taking a group of players that have had minimal participation in football up to this point. The introduction of friendly games in the specsavers tournaments and games organised by Allan in his role as fixtures secretary saw a dramatic period of sustained improvement culminating in several victories against established clubs in Peterborough. The pairing of Allan and Dave as coaches has helped build an air of fun, participation while at the same time a drive to succeed and improve performance on each and every occasion. The introduction of new players into this mix of keen, enthusiastic and driven group of players bodes well for the future of this team for next season and beyond. Well done to everyone involved and I can’t wait to see the development continue into next season. Dave says “Iam really pleased with the performance and the progress of the under7's. BothAlan andI arelooking forward to takingthe teaminto the league this year. They have shown good strength, character and sportsmanship. Overallthey have exceeded my expectations and look as though they have a greatfuture ahead. Also we would like to saya big thank you to all of the parents of the super 7's for their commitment to theclub.GO PUMAS!!!”

Under 8 Club / Academy

The Under 8 squad this year has had a rollercoaster ride to say the least. Along with Ciaran our other original founding coach Chris Kaye took on the coaching responsibility for the Under 8. They worked extremely hard together with many not having had the opportunity to play in competitive situations before joining the club. Which made the dramatic progress the have made all the more awe inspiring. This group of players are now challenging established clubs and teams that have been playing together for at least two years. This is a great testament to the hard work that initially Chris and now new coach Sam Podowlski have put in with the players and a great credit to the players themselves. Next season will take this team into the Under 9 league and challenges against some excellent footballers in some well established clubs around Peterborough. I believe that this side are more than well-equipped to cope with the challenges ahead. Well done guys – GO PUMAS!!!!

Chairman’s Review

Sometimes you look at people on the telly or in other job roles and you say, I could do that, and do it better as well, but how often do we actually get the opportunity to prove ourselves against a statement like that? A year ago I set up this club with that goal in mind and thanks to finding some of the most energetic, enthusiastic, and generous people I have ever met, I believe that we are well on our way to proving the above statement true and I would like to thank everyone associated with the club for their efforts in bringing us to where we are today. This year has been an amazing rollercoaster journey for me. We have taken huge strides forward in such a short space of time as a club, attracting upwards of 60 players to our Club/Academy set up and playing games across Peterborough and the wider Northampton and Huntingdonshire area building great friendships with other clubs in the area. I believe that we have the potential to create something very special with this club that could leave a lasting impression on the Peterborough youth footballing landscape if we continue to do things right. We need to continue offering football to players of all abilities through our Academy structure, instilling the inclusive core values of the club and playing football in the way we believe it should be played. The challenge for us all – Officials, parents and players alike, is to build on this year’s successes, learn from our failings and mistakes and make the 2011/2012 season even more enjoyable for all at the club.

Secretary’s Review

What an amazing year the Pumas have had. They say from small acorns bug oak trees grow and we are certainly growing into a strong young tree. We have an enthusiastic group of players and parents involved in the Pumas Academy, each and every one of whom have enabled us to become the club we are today. We have achieved so much in such a short space of time. We now have our own home pitches and clubhouse, which with the help of the parents and Peterborough Council are now looking much improved. We have developed a fantastic relationship with our supplier, Mad Ant Sports who have kindly taken two fun filled training sessions and delivered quality football kits for all three teams and jackets for the entire Academy. Our three young teams have had an amazing year. The players put their hearts into every game, win lose or draw and because of their outstanding attitudes, enthusiasm and sportsmanship the Pumas now have an excellent and ever growing reputation in the Peterborough area to take forward into the 2011/12 league season. I am extremely proud of everything that the club, players, officials, and parents have achieved this year and I hope that this continues in the coming years ahead.

Publicity Officer / Meetings Secretary

My name is Tiana Roddis andI am the Publicity Officer and partial administrator for the Park Farm Puma's. My son joined the Academy in November 2010 and was made to feel important and part of the team from the very first session. I have some knowledge of other teams in the area and what struck me was the affordable fee's and the fact that the funds go towards the children at all times. Christmas events and trophies and football kits and Puma jackets are just a few to mention!! This does not occur in many other clubs. I felt compelled to join the committee based on these factors asI hope to give something back to the club and help out with the running of things as the coachesneed all the help we can give to ensure the club is running to its full potential at all times.
