A prayer for Mothering Sunday

WHEN WE CRY

When we cry

You rock us

When we are hungry

You feed us

YOU LOVE US

MOTHERING GOD

When we are lost

You find us

When we are happy

You laugh with us

YOU LOVE US

MOTHERING GOD

As we grow

You respect us

When we leave home

You bless us.

YOU LOVE US

MOTHERING GOD

Ruth Burgess

Mike Smithers will be at Longley Café at 10.00 am on Wednesday 6th April and would love to meet up with any old friends.

ADVANCE NOTICE

On April 23rd 7.30pm at the village hall there will be a ‘Murder Mystery’ evening presented by Emley Players. The evening will consist of a three course meal and a chance to decide ‘who dun it’! It promises to be a great deal of fun and will raise much needed funds for the fabric of our church building which will soon be in need of a new roof!! Tickets will be £12.50 each and will be limited to 50 so that there will be space for the actors to move among the audience. Tickets available soon.

CHURCH EASTER FLOWERS

Contributions towards the cost of flowers for the Church at Easter will be warmly received. Please see Pat Hopkins or Anne Horn.

RAFFLE FOR TANZANIA

The Team Tanzania Group are hoping to raise money for our friends in Kagwa Village in Tanzania by raffling a beautiful painting by local artist Jeff Beaumont, together with second and third prizes of a luxury food hamper and a wine hamper. Tickets are £1 each and are available from Val Shuttleworth or Di.

At the last family service many of you were given some daffodil bulbs to – hopefully! – grow on for Easter. Please could you bring your plants back to church over the next couple of weeks so that they can be used amongst the Easter flowers!?

If you would like to be part of a drama being enacted around Holmfirth on Good Friday afternoon, please let Di know as soon as possible.

Also, volunteers are wanted to help ‘Hand to Mouth’ puppets who will be doing a presentation at Kirkroyds School March 21st and 22nd from 9.15 – 11.30am. If you can help with either of these dates, please see Di. Thank you
