What is Crossfire United Pre-ECNL Development Academy?

Crossfire United Pre-ECNL Development Academy (PDA) is a joint effort between, THUSC, Lake Oswego, Southside, WUSC, Clackamas, and Oregon City that is intended to put our most promising, talented young players into a more challenging environment. It is a program to develop our elite players preparing them for our top program ECNL.

Can I participate if I do not belong to one of the above clubs?

Yes, but we would ask that you let your current club know you are considering this opportunity. The ECNL is the best female youth soccer league in the world so we feel it is important to give players the opportunity to be a part of the program and enjoy the benefits gained from participation.

Does PDA participation mean I can no longer play with my club team?

No. Crossfire United PDA is in addition to your club training and not to replace it. Players selected for this program will remain with their club teams and compete with those teams, while gaining access to this additional platform for elite training and select competitions. The Pre-ECNL program is part of the vertical integration we are building at Crossfire United. Our aim is to select the best players from Crossfire Oregon, THUSC, LOSC, CUSC, WUSC, SSC, OCSC, and other local area clubs and develop large player pools who eventually feed into our Pre-ECNL teams and ECNL Reserve teams.

Why was the program created?

PDA is to identify and foster the development of our players seeking eventual access to our ECNL teams. Within this integrated program we will provide a clear development pathway for our top players. It is our goal and belief that this program will bring our top players amongst our clubs together at an earlier age to foster the success of our future ECNL team members and teams.

What is different between the old Pre-ECNL program and the 2016-2017 program?

For 2016-2017 we have completely revamped the program. We have scrapped the once per month trainings and instead adopted a model similar to Youth National Teams where we hold mini-camps at specific times of the year. This will allow for more familiarity between players and coaches and more retention of technical, tactical, physical, and psychological themes focused on in trainings.

If my child is in the ECNL Academy how can they move to the Pre-ECNL Developmental Academy?

For 2016-2017 we will create pools of players and they will form the Pre-ECNL program. There will not be separate programs anymore.

How much does it cost?

Cost is $375 per player for the year, and the program price includes all trainings, coach salaries, plus two training shirts for each player. The program will begin June 11-12, 2016 and end approximately in March 2017 for the 06s and April 9 for the 04s and 05s. Overall there will be roughly 30 hours of training during the program.

Who can participate?

Players for the Crossfire United PDA program are identified and recommended by club coaches and directors. The teams will be made up 06, 05, and 04 birth year players. A minimum total of 24 players will be selected for each age group. We reserve the right to have more than 24 if the talent of our players permits.

What events will the PDA teams attend?

Please see the calendar.

How many players will travel?

The players who consistently display the correct attitude, desire and level of play will be selected for travel.

Who will be coaching?

PDA is organized so players will train under a variety of coaches throughout the program. We will have some of our top coaches in our clubs coaching within PDA. Currently the 2015-16 coaching staff includes but is not limited to:

Fraser Morrison, Kevin Legg, Melanie Langley, Rochelle Hearns, and Karl Granlund will be the main staff. We will also reserve the right to add in quality staff if we feel they will elevate the level of the program.
