Qualifications / training relevant to the TA role, including a good standard of numeracy and literacy.

Providing for the children’s needs:

  • Ability to relate well to children and establish good working relationships
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour
  • Awareness of strategies for managing children with ASD, ADHD
  • Ability to utilise strategies to support pupils in making progress in their learning
  • Good understanding of child development and learning processes
  • Ability to use ICT effectively to support learning
  • Ability to support or lead groups of children in a variety of learning activities, including those with special needs, ensuring their safety, access and progress
  • Ability to support the class teacher in the assessment of children’s progress through effective record keeping, marking and feedback
  • Ability to adapt teachers plans to individual needs of child
  • Ability to support the class teacher in the planning and evaluation of lessons/group work
