Space Scheduling

Faculty/Staff:

Faculty and staff should contact Donna Ford in Student Services at or 803-777-4177 to reserve the Faculty Lounge, classrooms, lobbies, the Swearingen courtyard or any other outdoor space including sidewalks in front of Swearingen or 300 Main.

Classroom requests require Donna to reserve through the Office of the Registrar so requests must be submitted at least 4 days in advance. If you would like to view the Registrar’s classroom calendars before contacting Donna, please visit https://25live.collegenet.com/sc, then search “Locations” (SWGN, 300M) to get a general idea of availability. Always contact Donna to reserve any space.

Student Organizations:

Most student organization meetings and events will require classroom reservations through Russell House Event Services. In order to do this, the organization must be registered with Student Life following the instructions at http://www.sa.sc.edu/leadershipandservice/student-organizations/.

To reserve a room, first check the Registrar’s classroom calendars for availability at https://25live.collegenet.com/sc. Search “Locations” (using SWGN or 300M) to see our rooms. If a room appears available, submit a request form through Student Life at Russell House Event Services using this form: http://www.sa.sc.edu/rhuu/using-academicnon-russell-house-space/ . Rooms booked through this method must be at least 5 – 7 days in advance. If you receive your room confirmation and it is not the requested location, you may contact Joe Johnson at to discuss other options.

Using CEC rooms, lobbies or outdoor space for events

Return area to original condition:

If you change the room configuration for your event, please return it to its original layout after the event is over. Clean up the room afterward. If you have food, dispose of packaging outside of the room using the dumpster at the loading dock.

Extra tables and chairs:

Pick up a key from student services and then sign out # of items to be used. You have to set-up your own tables. Following an event, tables and chairs must be returned to storage in the same arrangement from which they were removed. If they are not put back the same way, privileges will be lost. This is important as fire code may be in violation when these items are stored improperly. Also, do not leave tables in the hallway.

Posting announcements

Bulletin Boards:

There are currently stand-alone signs in both Swearingen and 300 Main lobbies. These signs are reserved for CEC business only, primarily for the purpose of CEC student organizations announcing meetings and events. Other general bulletin boards are available for any announcements and are located throughout both buildings. Please do not place any announcements on windows, doors, stairwells or walls. They will be removed. Also, be courteous and don’t post your announcement on top of someone else’s. Please remove all signs when the event is over.

Flat Screen TVs:

Use this form to provide information to CEC’s marketing and communication team for inclusion on flat screen TVs in Swearingen and 300 Main, as well as through social media. Requests received 7 working days in advance of the event will be considered for TV screen and social media announcements. Requests received less than 7 days in advance will be considered for social media announcements only.
