Artist-in-Schools Performance Program - Canada 150 Edition
Program Guidelines
Objective
The Artists-In-Schools Performance Program is a special initiative put in place to celebrate Canada 150 by offering schools an opportunity to host one or more N.B. professional artists in schools for the 2017-2018 school year.
The primary goal of the Program is to enhance student’s artistic perception and appreciation of the arts by bringing together the creative potential of students and the unique energy of performing artists.
Where a school is unable to host a performance due to the lack of facilities, it may choose to hold the performance OR to piggy-back on a performance to be held at another school in their respective district. In this instance, the funding may be used to cover transportation and substitute teacher expenses.
Program Funding
The Program will provide up to a maximum of $685 towards the fees charged by a professional artists/company to perform for students. These activities may be incorporated into regularly scheduled classes and/or during regular instructional time in the school. Once a school has selected its artistic program, it is responsible for contacting the artists or their representatives, negotiating a contract, and for paying the related fees.
Note: If either artist fees or transportation and substitute teacher expenses exceed $685 per school, the school will be responsible for paying the excess fees or expenses.
Program Eligibility
The Artists-In-Schools Performance Program is offered to English-language school districts. Any school in these districts may participate.
