2011 Excellence In Practice Award

The Office of Career and Technical Education (OCTE) is once again accepting nominations for the Excellence In Practice Award, to be presented at the 2011 Michigan Career Education Conference. The award recognizes successful, exemplary Tech Prep and state-approved Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs and/or other related career education initiatives that prepare and support students for careers and postsecondary education. The nominees must be state-approved CTE programs, aligned and/or articulated postsecondary programs of study, or career-related initiatives that demonstrate outstanding outcomes, produce measurable results for students, and support high academic rigor and alignment.

To apply, please provide a two-page description of the nominated program or initiative responding to the questions below. Your description may not exceed two pages, with single-spaced, readable font, and must be accompanied by the attached cover page.

Describe the program or initiative:

1)  Why is the program or initiative being nominated?

2)  What are the exemplary features of the program or initiative?

3)  Describe how this program or initiative supports high academic rigor and academic alignment.

4)  Describe the Secondary/Postsecondary linkages/partnerships and how this program or initiative prepares students for postsecondary education and careers. Include specific examples.

5)  Describe the outcomes and/or successes of this program or initiative and the evidence.

An MDE/OCTE committee will review all applications submitted and select the programs or initiatives that best demonstrate exemplary practices. Applications must be received by Friday,
