Audit Tests must be completed for each program.

Supplies: Folders like those used in Acctg 120 for each program.

Activities to be completed in separate folders:

1.  Manually complete the July data to know the balances in your accounts.

2.  Use Quickbooks to Set-up and do July data. See the instructions for the reports to print. Complete the comparison Chart and complete the Audit Test.

3.  Use Peachtree Complete to set-up and do the same July data. Instructions are less detailed than the Quickbooks instruction. Complete the comparison chart and the audit test.

4.  Use MYOB to set-up and do the same July data. No instructions are given. Use the knowledge you gain from the Business Works, Quickbooks, and Peachtree to enter this data. Enter the information you found about the program onto the comparison chart. Complete the audit test with the reports you printed from MYOB.

5.  Find a program from the internet for you to enter the July data. Complete the comparison chart and the audit test for this program.

Accounting 121- Advanced Computerized Acctng

Course Objective: Apply the basics learned in Accounting 120 to additional commercial programs.

Requirements:

1-  Enter the Generic Data for July in Quickbooks, Peachtree, and MYOB. You must download a fourth program off the internet, hence the four units.

2-  Instructions are given for Quickbooks and Peachtree. MYOB, a program favored by MAC people but is PC based, is included to give you experience learning a program with no instructions. Apply what you have learned from Business Works, Quickbooks, and Peachtree. The internet program is given to you to learn how to obtain sample programs to investigate for your future company.

3-  Use the same lab folders used in Accounting 120. Complete in the order listed in the Financial Accounting Procedures -page 2 of the Generic Data. Turn in as you complete each program. Do not wait to the end to give me all four programs.

4-  Answer the audit test questions being sure to include the name of the report in which you found the information.

5-  Complete the comparison chart for the selected program. Includes the strength and weaknesses of each program.

Programs: Three programs are available on the computer center computers--Quick Books, Business Work, and Peachtree Complete. The programs are available in the San Gabriel or San Rafael Computer Lab. If you have access to the selected program and can add it to your hard drive you may use your own computer. I have trial copies of Quick Books and Business Works available on CD-ROM if you want to add it to your personal computer’s had drive. You can request a sample copy of the program at the software company's website.

Completion Date:

Turn in each program as you complete it so I know your status. Include your archival copy for each month. Put it in the file outside my office, in my mailbox or turn it in during my office hour.

Grade: You will get credit if you complete all four programs with your mistakes corrected and submitted in good form. You will not receive credit if you only complete part of the programs.
