Chapter Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy

The Dallas Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors (The IIA) values the privacy of its members. The Chapter is committed to each member’s right to privacy. This privacy policy explains the Chapter’s information gathering and handling practices. If you have questions regarding the Chapter’s policy or do not feel your concerns have been addressed, please contact Dallas Chapter Leadershipand/or the Chief Privacy Officer of The IIA.

Consent

By using the Dallas Chapter’s web site, you signify your acceptance of our privacy policy. If you, as a visitor, choose to register for courses or events or otherwise submit personally identifiable information, you are consenting to The IIA’s use of such data in accordance with its privacy policy.

Scope

This privacy policy describes how we handle your personal information. It applies generally to the Dallas website, governance, and membership. IIA Headquarters, other IIA chapters, IIA affiliates, and links to partner web sites may operate under separate privacy policies.

Membership Identity Number and Password

All individual IIA members (not corporations) are entered into the Global IIA membership database and are assigned a unique membership number and password. Membership number and password are delivered to members together with basic information about membership benefits and services directly from The IIA.

Membership Directory

The Dallas chapter will:

a)Download the membership directory using information provided from The IIA Headquarters for each member profile. Listing information in The IIA member profile grants the Chapter authorization to include this information in the Membership Directory.

b)Restrict home addresses, home phone numbers, or personal email addresses from directory inclusion unless these items are listed as contact information on the individual IIA member profile.

c)Always include the following statement with our member directory: The member information contained in the Directory for the Dallas Chapter of The IIA (including the e-mail listing) is for use solely by IIA members in contacting one another. Use of information is prohibited for commercial use or solicitation of products and services, including employment activities, audit services or products, vendor products or services or general distribution unrelated to chapter activities. Please do not forward this directory to non-Dallas IIA members.

d)Advise any member(s) wishing to opt out of the Chapter’s Membership Directory that they may do so by opting out on their IIA member profile.

e)Advise any member(s) that the information contained in the Membership Directory may be altered or removed on The IIA headquarters website via their IIA member profile.

f)Restrict access to the membership directory to IIA members by password protecting the Membership Directory and distributing the password to Dallas Chapter members on an annual basis.

Email Usage

The Dallas Chapter will:

a)Restrict communications to professional uses relating to The IIA and Chapter business.

b)Not provide our email list to any outside party for any reason.

c)Send email to chapter members privately by utilizing software to send messagesto each member individually or utilizing the “blind carbon copy” option (and hiding all other email addresses included in the mailing).

Members maintain the right to opt out of emails via The IIA website.

Mailings

The Dallas Chapter will not provide your mailing address to third parties without the express consent of our members. Members maintain the right to opt out of mailings via The IIA website.

Member Information

Dallas Chapter Members may do the following in regards to their personal data:

1)Review data on record/maintained by The IIA.

2)Modify any data on record/maintained by The IIA.

3)Request the Dallas Chapter delete and/or remove any data on record.

4)Opt-out of future contact from the Dallas Chapter at any time by logging in to The IIA’s website and updating the member profile. To opt out, complete the appropriate mailing and e-mail option fields on the Member Profile form on The IIA's Web site or send your request via e-mail to: .

5)Express any concern you have related to the Chapter use of your data.

Collection of Data

The Dallas Chapter does not collect specific member data from web site visitors.

Changes to Privacy Policy

The Dallas chapter reserves the right to modify or amend this privacy policy at any time and for any reason; nothing contained herein is intended to create a contract or agreement between the Chapter and any other party. Users should reference this policy periodically to ensure they have knowledge of the current provisions of the chapter’s privacy policy.
