BGHS vs. PRP- The Tigers played at BGHS in 2001, coming away with a 16-9 victory. Friday will have the two schools meet for only the second time and it will be the first time PRP has hosted.

BGHS 42 North Hardin 7 - BGHS won for the 11th straight time in the Rafferty’s Bowl, as they defeated North Hardin, 42-7. The win was the 28th consecutive victory for the Purples. JR QB Beau Buchanan completed 18 of 26 passes for 226 yards and two touchdowns. SR WR Ziyon Kenner led the Purples receivers with 6 catches for 93 yards and one TD. SR WR Nash HIghtowerhad one TD receiving and rushing for BGHS. SO RB Vito Tisdale had 61 yards on 9 carries and scored twice. The BGHS defense held North Hardin scoreless until late in the fourth quarter. SR LB Justice Dingle led the Purples defenders with 7 tackles, 1 assist, 1.5 sacks, and a caused fumble. SR OLB Devan Jackson had 5 tackles, 2 assists, .5 sacks, a pass break-up, and returned a fumble 35 yards for a touchdown. JR OLB Miles Smith and JR S Davis Tomblinsonboth had interceptions. BGHS Football- BGHS Football began play in 1922. Since that time, the Purples have amassed a record of 684-331-35, which places them eighth in all-time wins in Kentucky.. The Purples are tied for 9th in state championships (6), are among only 12 schools in state history that have won three consecutive championships, and their 48-game win streak (2011-14) is the second longest in state history. Since 2011,, BGHS is 85-3 (.966). In the 26 seasons since 1990, BGHS and Highlands are the only two Kentucky schools to win more than 85% of their games. JV/Freshman Football- JV game with Brentwood Academy was canceled due to heavy eclipse traffic on I-65. The FR team opens their season at Portland, Tn. on Thursday.

Coach Wallace: Kevin Wallace now in 12th spot on the career KHSAA football wins list. Currently, only nine coaches have secured 300 career KHSAA wins. Tom Larkey(Perry Co. Central) and Wallace have a chance to join that group by season’s end. Wallace is 290-99 (.745) in his career, including a 245-38 (.865) mark at BGHS. Wallace is tied for 10th in KHSAA state championship appearances (8) and and tied for 7th in state championships won (5). Wallace is the only coach in state history that have been a part of three separate winning streaks of over 25 games .

KHSAA Coaching Wins Leaders

Rankings: Class 5A preseason rankings by the Courier-Journal, Herald-Leader, and Bluegrass Preps have all placed BGHS as the top-ranked team in its class. PRP has been ranked in the top ten of Class 6A by all of those pre-season publications. MaxPreps ranks both teams in the top ten of Kentucky overall, BGHS, 5th, PRP, 9th.
