Part I 3-D Individual Country Map (due January 20)
Your map must be a cut out map of JUST your country. It must be in the shape of your country and needs to be the size of around an 8.5 x 11, colored with all the main cities and the capital including any main landmarks, mountain ranges, rivers, lakes, deserts, or plains. This map needs to be on construction paper or thicker paper and needs to be cut out in the shape and in 3-D. You may print maps off the internet but remember, it needs to include all of the above.
Part II - PowerPoint Presentation and Country Presentation (due January 28)
- Your PowerPoint presentation must include most of the information from your paper. You need to include the following:
- 1st slide: Title page with country, flag, name, and period.
- Information slides should not be too wordy and should include graphics when necessary. You should also use transitions between slides and try to make it as creative as possible and should be clear, concise, and legible
- Information to include: your country’s name, capital city, current population, main cities, major languages, area of land, rivers or other bodies of water in or near your country and their effect on your country, currency, when it became a country, tribes or barbarian tribes that had originally inhabited the area, family tree of kings, queens, or leaders of the country, great wars in the country, any major events such as genocide, languages of the country, nationalities of the country, any major landmarks the country is known for (i.e.. the Eiffel Tower, Stonehenge, etc..).
- Work cited slide at the end of your presentation
- Your PowerPoint presentation will be presented in class. Your presentation may not be any longer than 5 minutes- you will be timed!! You need to speak clearly and loud enough to hear.
- You will need to either e-mail me your PowerPoint or give it to me on a CD/DVD-not flash drives!
Part III – Paper (due February 3)
You will need to write a research paper on one European country. You will need to include the following:
1. A cover page with the flag of your country in color (if you do not have a color printer you can print it an outline of it and color it) with your name, period, and date.
2. Mechanics: page numbers, grammar, and spelling, double spaced, 12 point Times New Roman Font with an one inch margin
3. Research paper information: this information needs to be in the form of a formal research paper that is held by the MLA standards. Do NOT list your information; this will result in an automatic half credit for your paper.
4. Include the following information about your country:
a. your country’s name, capital city, current population, main cities, major languages, area of land, rivers or other bodies of water in or near your country and their effect on your country, currency, when it became a country, tribes or barbarian tribes that had originally inhabited the area, family tree of kings, queens, or leaders of the country, great wars in the country, any major events such as genocide, languages of the country, nationalities of the country, any major landmarks the country is known for (i.e.. the Eiffel Tower, Stonehenge, etc..).
5. You must include a family tree in your paper (this can be copied and pasted from a website)
6. Work cited page with ALL resources used (a minimum of two resources is needed).
