Section 3 – Selection Criteria

The information provided in your application form plays a vital role in the shortlisting process. Only those who have sufficiently demonstrated on their application form that they meet the criteria by the closing date will be invited to the next stage.

The criteria for selection to the post for which you have applied are set out in the following pages.

In the box under each heading please give a clear and comprehensive account of the specific ways in which you consider you meet these requirements. The information will be used to assess your suitability for the post and you should ensure, therefore, that all relevant information is included. Each criterion is assessed individually and must therefore be completed in full, i.e. candidates should not rely on information included in a previous section for other criteria.

Essential Criteria

1 Be able to demonstrate that you are available for 120 hours* each week, across a range of time periods including day time, evenings and weekends, in order to respond to emergency calls and

*This is currently under review in line with NIFRS RDS Incident Attendance and Availability Policy

2 Be able to demonstrate that you are able to attend the 2 hour drill night each week

3 Be able to demonstrate that you are able to attend all training which will normally take place on weekends and will be approximately 12 days per year (after initial training)

4 Be able to demonstrate that you are able to respond to the Fire Station for which you have applied within 5 minutes of being alerted.

Please note: Future scenarios which cannot be currently evidenced will not be accepted, e.g. plans to move house or plans to find employment near the Fire Station.
