- There were very attentive volunteers the in reception area.
- The floors were clean and well-polished and the stairwells were well maintained and bright.
- The front porch canopy needed cleaning.
- The signage outside was unclear when directing to the wards.
- The main display board in the corridor directs Ward visitors to Junction One which is at the entrance, however, the signage directing to the wards is outside the building.
- The signage in the front lobby is confusing. It says Breast Screening is at Junction 4, but that appears to be the cafe. The same sign also indicates that Breast Screening can be found at Junction 3.
- The main map in the lobby doesn't show Ward’s 5&6.
- A “Cleaning in progress” wet floor sign had been left in a disabled toilet at Junction 1.
- The cleaning roster check signs were damaged in both the gentleman’s toilets and disabled toilets at Junction 1.
- The bins in the Disabled Toilet need to be replaced from foot operated to a suitable alternative at Junction 1.
- There was a build up of dirt in the plug hole of the Disabled Toilet at Junction 1.
- There was a cracked tile in the third cubicle in the Female Toilet at Junction 2.
- Strip lights in the stairwell on the 1st floor near Junction 3 were not working.
- There was some inconsistency on signage between breast unit and breast screening.
- Canopy cleaned on schedule external cleaning

- Housekeeping services reminded to remove wet signs in a timely manner

GUM Clinic

- The G.U.M clinic has frosted windows and we'll appointed examination rooms.
- All staff in G.U.M were wearing World Aids Day red ribbons.
- The G.U.M Infection control board is well displayed and contained relevant and up to date information.
- There were very good and informative display boards in G.U.M.
- All of the staff within the G.U.M were very approachable and friendly.
- There was no visible hand gel at the Female G.U.M entrance.
- The holes in the access panels on the floor in the Female G.U.M. Examination Room 1 need replacement caps.
- The wall in Female G.U.M Examination Room 1 was damaged.
- The stirrups in are stained and discoloured in Female G.U.M Examination Room 1.
- The base of the examination couch in Female G.U.M Examination Room 1 was very dusty.
- A counter surface in the Women’s Examination Room was chipped and worn.
- The wall behind the bin in Surgery Room 2 was damaged in Female G.U.M Surgery Room 2.
- A cabinet plinth under the counter was badly damaged in Female G.U.M Examination Room 3.
- An external fire door to G.U.M (Sally Army Door) was badly damaged and had no fire strip.
- There was no visible hand gel at the Male G.U.M entrance.
- The examination chair was dusty in the Male G.U.M Examination Room 1.
- The wall was damaged in the Male G.U.M Examination Room 1.
- The reception area in the G.U.M. Clinic is currently set up as separate male and female which can discriminate against some service users such as transgendered.

Ward 5

- The food on Ward 5 is hand served as individual courses and was all piping hot and well presented.
- There were clocks and calendars are in all rooms on Ward 5.
- The staff had brought in flowers and decorations, which brighten up all of the bays on Ward 5.
- The Toilets on Ward 5 had clear, bright and visible signs.
- The Nurses’ Station on Ward 5 was clean and tidy with no patient details on display. Smart technology is used for storing and displaying patient details.
- The staff on Wards 5 & 6 were very friendly and the Wards have a calm atmosphere.
- One of the H.C.A was very attentive to a very ill patient, and showed a great amount of compassion and dignity to the patient.
- Ward 5 had a well-appointed day room with board games and books for the patients and their visitors.
- Curtains needed more hooks to hang better.
- Patients on Ward 5 where being fed by Health Care Assistant however aprons were not being worn.
- A Healthcare Assistant was observed feeding a patient but did not appear to be communicating with the patient in any way.
- Facilities Housekeeping services to add more hooks to curtain rails to enable a better fit/hang
- One Healthcare assistant was not wearing an apron. This was communicated to the ward sister.
- Healthcare assistant not communicating with the patient was escalated to the ward sister.
Concerns Addressed During Visit
- The emergency cord in the disabled toilet was too high. (Addressed during visit).
- An electrical cable and extension socket was running across a sink in a Female G.U.M Surgery Room 2. (Addressed during visit).
- Some dust in the corners of Ward 5 behind equipment on the internal corridor. (Addressed during visit).
- Some dust in the corners of Ward 6. (Addressed during visit).

- The Enter and View Team were impressed with the choice of meals available on the lunch menu.
- The Enter and View Team were impressed with the presentation of the meals.
- The vegetables were cooler than the rest of the main meals.
- The Cheese and Biscuits didn’t have a lot of cheese.
- The Enter and View team were served at the end of service.
- Cheese and biscuits consist of 2 butters and 2 pieces of cheese, if patient want any additional to this they can.
