When and where is the referee school?
The 2005 ODHA/ODMHA Referee School runs from Friday morning August 12th to Sunday afternoon, August 14th, 2005.
The School is held on the campus of Carleton University in Ottawa.
How much does it cost and what is included?
The cost is $373.83 (+7% GST = $400), and it includes 2 nights of accommodations at Carleton University Residence

o Breakfast and Lunch on Sunday

If I go to the Referee School, do I have to take a one-day clinic too?
No, the Referee School counts as your certification clinic for the year.
I live in Ottawa. If I do not wish to stay at Carleton University, can I pay a reduced fee?
No, all students are expected to stay at the Carleton University Residence accommodations for the duration of the School. The best part of the school is the interaction with other referees and Instructors.
How do I register for the Referee School?
You can reserve your spot on-line from our website and pay by credit card,

What should I bring?
You should be prepared for on and off-ice instruction. Some suggested clothing items include:
q Gym wear (shorts, t-shirts, gym socks, gym shoes)
q Outdoor recreation wear (sweatshirt, running pants, etc.)
q Comfortable clothing to wear in a classroom setting
q Your officiating gear for on-ice instruction
(at a minimum, you MUST have a CSA-approved helmet and CSA-approved half face shield, skates and a whistle).
Some other items you should bring include:
q Towels (these are NOT provided by the University)
q Toiletry items such as:
o Soap, Shampoo, Deodorant, Toothpaste and toothbrush, Razors and shave cream
q Any prescription medication you currently are using
q Pens, pencils and paper for classroom work
q Your rulebook or rulebook/casebook combination (if you are a new official, these will be provided to you) and your Procedures Manual
q Some money for clinic supplies (such as extra cresting) or miscellaneous items (Carleton U does have a tuck shop and a pharmacy on campus, so any forgotten toiletry items can be purchased during the School).
q The University does provide pillows and bed linens, but you can bring your own if you wish.
I am driving – Where do I park my car?
Participants are responsible for their own parking arrangements. Parking in LOT 6 is the most convenient lot you can use .. MAKE SURE YOU GET A PAY & DISPLAY PASS. LOT 6 RATE: $1.20/half hour or MAX $8.00 per day
q Need change? Coin changers are located at Pay & Display Machines in Lots 1, 2, 6 and the Admin. Garage. Change also available from the Parking Services Office in the CTTC Building and from the Tuck Shop at the Athletics Building.
q Credit card payment option (VISA/Mastercard) is available at Pay & Display machines located in Lot 1, Lot 2, Lot 6, CTTC (P10) and the Admin. Garage.
q All visitor parking areas are enforced from 7:00 am to 10:30 pm, Monday to Friday.
q Parking on Saturday and Sunday is FREE! So you would only need to pay fees until 10:30PM Friday night.
Is smoking permitted in Residence?
All of Carleton buildings are smoke-free - smoking is only permitted outdoors.
When will I get confirmation I am registered for the school and the agenda?
You will be contacted by e-mail after your registration has been received. You will also be contacted by your group leader a couple of weeks before the school starts. You will be provided with the agenda information, maps/directions and their group coordinators contact info to answer any other questions you may have before you get to the school.
How do I get to Carleton University campus?
Ottawa is situated part way between Toronto and Montreal at the eastern edge of Ontario. The distance from Toronto is 500 kilometers while Montreal is 200 kilometers away. Located minutes south from the centre of Ottawa, Carleton University is easily accessible by car from any direction of the city. (See link here to regional Maps )
Via Highway 417 (runs east-west through the centre of the City of Ottawa)
o Exit Highway 417 (also called the "Queensway") at Bronson Avenue.
o Follow Bronson Avenue south approximately 2 kilometers.
o The campus entrance will be on the right at the intersection of Bronson and Sunnyside Avenue.
Via Highway 416
o Hwy 416 connects Hwy 401 (interchange near Prescott, Ontario) to Hwy 417.
o Follow Hwy. 416 to Hwy. 417 (East). Follow Hwy. 417 (the "Queensway") and exit at Bronson Avenue.
o Follow Bronson Avenue south approximately 2 kilometers.
o The campus entrance will be on the right at the intersection of Bronson and Sunnyside Avenue.
Arrival by Train or Bus
o The 15-minute taxi ride from the Ottawa (Via Rail) train station to Carleton University’s Residence Commons costs approximately $15.00.
o Taxi fare from the Ottawa (Voyageur) bus terminal to Carleton University is approximately $10.00.
o Local OCTranspo [OCTranspo] routes #4 and #7 (both of which enter the campus) pass within a block of the Ottawa (Voyageur) bus terminal.
o OCTranspo's new Light Rail System - The OTrain
The O-Train provides service to Carleton University from the transit stations at Bayview (Lebreton Flats) and Greenboro (South Keys) with stops at Carling and Confederation Heights
