Discipline: Following is a list of punishments for cadets that do not perform at the standards of AFJROTC:

· Memorandum for record (MFR)

· Letter of counseling or reprimand (LOC, LOR)

· Removal from leadership position

· Suspension from extra/co-curricular activities

· Reduction in grade

· Ineligibility for promotion board

MFR: This is a warning for a cadet who performs the misdemeanor.

LOC/LOR: If a cadet is given a task and is late to complete it, fails to wear the uniform without an excuse, or if a cadet performs misconducts during flight and has been warned and sent to the back of the classroom, the cadet should be written an LOC. If two LOC’s are given to the same cadet, they will be given an LOR. If further incidents occur, further actions should be taken. A template is on page five.

Disciplinary Boards: If it is brought to the attention of group leadership that an event/incident has occurred that has, in their opinion, had the following effects, then a disciplinary board will be convened:

a. Violated the Air Force core values

b. Seriously placed the credibility of the group in jeopardy

c. Violated the cadet code of honor, cadet guide instructions, or school rules

The first sergeant, on the day of the disciplinary board, will be sure the cadet follows these procedures:

1. Report to the designated area at least fifteen minutes prior to the designated time as ordered in proper uniform and contact the first sergeant

2. Approach door at the designated time and knock once

3. Enter when instructed

3

6. Drop salute after salute is returned and remain at attention until told otherwise

7. Respond as directed by the board or request permission to address the board

8. Upon being dismissed, salute and use appropriate movements to depart.

The first sergeant will walk in behind the cadet and will sit in the back corner of the room unless told otherwise by the group commander. During the disciplinary board, the first sergeant will help document the events. When the board is over, the first sergeant will leave behind the cadet.

Meetings

Staff Meetings: The first sergeant must attend all the staff meetings as well as the squadron meetings. They should attend the staff meetings because they are now on staff and have a duty to fulfill. During the meeting, it is expected of the first sergeant to take notes to inform the flight commanders in their squadron of recent events and tasks. If the first sergeant does not show up to multiple meetings, they will be issued paperwork and possibly lose the position.

4

Squadron Meetings: These meetings occur weekly, and the first sergeants are responsible for making a meeting agenda to be distributed to the cadets who attend the meetings. Flight commanders must come, but if they cannot go, their flight sergeant should come. Element leaders are allowed to come as well. Flight leadership need to take notes at these meetings. Topics discussed at these meetings include: academics, leadership, discipline, building maintenance, and other important subjects. The first sergeant runs these meetings with the deputy squadron commanders.
