Rutgers is home to many centers, initiatives and departments dedicated to diversity and inclusion related research. On Friday, March 31, 2017 the Office of the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs is sponsoring Rutgers’ second academic symposium to feature the latest diversity and inclusion related research, scholarship, and best practices of Rutgers faculty and advanced post -doctoral fellows and associates. The objective of the symposium is to provide a venue for researchers to present findings of studies, engage in interactive panel discussions; and participate in topical paper and network sessions.

Call for Proposal

This year’s theme, Scholarship, Research, and Best Practices in Diversity Inclusion: Current Findings and Emerging Issues aims to increase awareness of new directions in current and emerging research, share innovative studies and practices of faculty and post-doctoral researchers, and explore current findings about emerging institutional issues. Drawing on scholarly studies and related research at Rutgers, how do recent findings shape best practices and inform future research? What are new approaches, emerging methods, and innovative strategies in diversity and inclusion research? What are the opportunities and challenges for advancing inter-disciplinary and collaborative approaches to diversity and inclusion research and scholarship? We invite all interested scholars who are engaged in diversity and inclusion research and/or related topics to submit a proposal. Proposals for a panel session with no more than three participants will also be considered.

Eligibility & Criteria:

All Rutgers faculty and postdoctoral researchers are invited to submit a proposal. Proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

·  Examining theories, emerging issues, and/or structures of diversity/inclusion and case studies, best practices, and/or significant findings

·  The overall clarity of the individual proposal, and the integration and coherence of proposed panel

·  Can be presented in no more than 10 minutes
