Please include all the information you think is relevant, but each answer should not exceed 100 words. If one of the following sections does not apply to your nominee, insert n/a in that row.

In what role(s) or area(s) has the nominee excelled?
Holly has been an outstanding President for the Tuba Appreciation Society at UON (UONTAS). She became President in 2015 and stepped down this year to complete her final semester. She has also been a Student Mentor since 2014 and does shifts as a UON Volunteer.
Through her work with the Mentors, UON TAS and UON volunteers Holly volunteers close to 10 hours every week of semester, ad is always cheerful and kind when she does it.
How has the nominee demonstrated service worthy of recognition?
Holly’s leadership of UONTAS has seen the activities of the society increase from one annual end of year party to multiple events each semester, the profile of the society has been raised and the membership has almost doubled.
Holly has also ensured that UONTAS is well positioned to continue after she leaves the Executive through succession planning. She implemented the mentoring of future Executives through her initiative the Piccolo Program. In this Program active members of UONTAS are invited to come to meetings and observe how the Executive runs, and then they are encouraged to nominate for election of positions.
Holly has made the Society more inclusive of a wide range of students and events are open to UON students who aren’t members.
How has the nominee’s contribution impacted on UON students?
As a result of Holly’s Presidency the Society has been able run more events each semester and increased membership by over 30 more students.
Her work as a Student Mentor has supported new students and one of them has remained friends with Holly and is now also a member of the Tuba Association. Two of Holly’s mentees have become Student Mentors in their second year at UON.
Holly also initiated collaboration of the UONTAS with the Residential Associations leading to weekly Tuesday Tuba Jam at International House which has (on average) 8 to 10 students participating each session.
What makes this person stand out from others?
Not only is Holly super organised but she is friendly and welcoming. She makes everyone feel like they are part of the Tuba family and that their contributions to event planning and running our activities are really valuable. She is very patient with beginner Tubers and helps them individually, even when they can’t read music or know which bit of the tuba to blow into.
She has also helped our Association with succession planning to make sure all the Executives involved access the C&S Development Program to help the Association as well as our own career development.
Please detail any other information you feel would support your nomination
I have attached a copy of an event plan that Holly created, as well as a copy of the newsletter that Holly sends out on the first of each month to demonstrate how organised she is.
Additionally Holly has initiated the Tuba Association in supporting the Red Cross Door Knock each year and the Association Members volunteer to support this in the Newcastle community. If required the Volunteer Coordinator for the Red Shield Appeal can supply a letter of verifying Holly’s contribution in support of this nomination
