EXT. OUTSIDE THE TOWN OF DEERBOURNE – NIGHT

The forest holds terror—the promises of death itself as a habitation that harvests crime scenes, paintings that tell a different tale, one that holds no ending that sugar can conceal.

F.B.I. Agent MORRIS and teenager JASMINE FAIRBANKS are deep in the forest running frantic toward civilization. A blood thirsty terror follows—unseen sounds of their foot steps pounding against the earth embedded by their captors. Challenging the warped minds of the unseen, they have never made a mistake. The prey don’t know, but it’s already over they just get this time to stretch their legs.

Jasmine trips, Morris stops and goes back for her.

AGENT MORRIS

Get up!

She is back on her feet with an immediate focus on escaping the forest.

Their heavy breathingmakes them easy targets and then the sound. Unmistakable the sound that haunts your nightmares and forces you to wake up before the big kill holds no hope for Agent Morris. The chainsaw blade escapes from behind one of the trees and slashes open his midsection.

JASMINE

(screams)

Oh My God!

She falls down ten feet from Agent Morris as the vision before her burns itself into her mind. Agent Morris falls to his knees and grabs his intestine with both hands trying to put himself back together. His facial expression is sad, no tears just the faint hope that this distraction will be enough for Jasmine to escape this nightmare. He looks up at the beast holding the object that is hismetaphorical, “nail in the coffin.”

The chainsaw blade is shoved into the agents face ending his life.

Jasmine tries to scream, but the sound won’t reach her mouth. She backs up while continuing to stare at the one who has killed the F.B.I. agent. The figure can’t be seen, camouflaged in the dark shadow. The chainsaw blade peeks out from the darkness and reveals the chunks of bloody brain, bone, and flesh. The defenseless girl gets to her feet and begins running through the forest.

Survivalis all Jasmine can think about, slightly to get back at the people responsible for this crime. The thoughts distract her from the metal rod that swings out from behind the tree and smashes her nose in. Close lined, legs fly into the air as well as the body’s perpetual motion, almost as if she was sitting down on a horizontal-chair blasting off toward the moon. The mangled girl falls to her back, the fight within her slips away as she sees the blurry figure of the Chainsaw-Maniac running to finish her off. The dark figure that hit her doesn’t seem to have the metal rod in his hands and she quickly notices the rod by her head. She knocked it out of his hands as her speed over-powered her assailant.

The Maniac stands next to his partner in victory and the Maniac plunges the chainsaw blade at the girls face. Jasmine is not finished just yet. The fight comes back to her as she grabs the rod and deflects the chainsaw blade away from her face.

The chainsaw plunges into the ground, Jasmine lifts her leg and kicks straight up lunching the Maniac into the air without his weapon in hand. She rolls back as the Maniacs assistant rushes her. Who’s the chainsaw-maniac now? Jasmine grabs the chainsaw, raises the gardeningtool like a warrior wielding a sword, pulling back on the trigger ripping through the silence in the air.

JASMINE

Groovy.

Jasmine runs the assailant through the mid-section. The blade rips up from the stomach to the neck. The girl yells out like an animal, but the yelling is almost masked by chainsaws music. The Maniac’s arms wrap around her and pull her off of the twitching corpse.

Jasmine slams her head back and breaks the nose of her assailant. The Maniac drops her, shakes it off while she gathers her senses, and throws a punch into the back of her head. She drops the chainsaw and falls to the ground. The maniac rushes to the twisted gardening tool, as Jasmine tries to get back up. She looks up to see lights in the distance, street lights.

Jasmine bursts into a muscle thrashing sprint towards the town. The maniac raises the chainsaw high into the air and screaming to intimidate her from running further. This busted up fox refuses to be caught.

EXT. OUTSIDE THE BUCKING BRONCO HOTEL.

Jasmine rushes through the parking lot and past the main office. She turns the knob of the first door to find it locked. She bangs on the door.

JASMINE

HELP ME! SOMEBODY OPEN UP!

Jasmine continues down the rooms. The Maniac sees her trying to get into one of the rooms of the hotel. She bangs on the second door and no one opens up. The girl sees the Maniac standing, watching her. She rushes to the next door and the door opens before reaching it. Jasmine leaps into the room and slams the door shut.

The Maniac walks to the room slowly and revs up the garden tool. He can hear the girl on the other side of the door explaining the situation to the occupants of the room. The maniac raises the chainsaw blade and knocks on the door, taunting its occupants. There is nothing but silence on the other side. The maniac revs the chainsaw and attempts the shove the blade into the doorknob, when the doorknob turns and the door opens.

The Maniac is stunned to find someone brave enough to face him. A double barrel shotgun is shoved into his face. DEAN, who is holding the weapon, has a smile on his face.

DEAN

Hi.

The shotgun blast illuminates the doorway with light.

EXT. OUTSIDE THE TOWN OF DEERBOURNE – NIGHT

Dean, SAM and Jasmine are running away from the hotel and back into the forest.

DEAN

It could be me but don’t we go chasing after the hostages and not the other way around?

SAM

I think there is a little more to this.

JASMINE

We can’t go back out here. There are more of--

DEAN

Listen, we can’t stay in town, we just left a body outside the room that we were staying at. And we are already not liked by the authorities.

SAM

We need to start with your name. Are you Jasmine Fairbanks?

JASMINE

Yes. How do you know that?

SAM

My brother and I help people out of abnormal situations.

JASMINE

Why are the authorities after you?

SAM

That’s not important right now. There was an article about you and another girl with you, what happened to her?

Jasmine looks away in shame.

JASMINE

They have her.

SAM

What happened to her?

JASMINE

There are these crazy people out here that would be more than happy to turn us into furniture.

Dean looks around to see if anyone is in the forest.

SAM

Then tell us what we are walking into

so you can go back into town.

JASMINE

There is a whole village of people that

are completely out of their minds.

They eat people, some of them change

and look like monsters.

SAM

What do you mean change?

JASMINE

Some of these, people have the ability to do things that regular people can’t do.

DEAN

(off in the distance)

HEY!

Sam and Jasmine catch up to Dean. Sam stops before reaching the body. A split second vision runs through Sam’s mind, the body on the ground ripped open. Sam starts to cough and spit.

DEAN

What’s up?

SAM

Nothing.

Sam starts to throw up.

Dean walks to Sam.

DEAN

Sam what’s wrong?

JASMINE

What a panzee.

Dean looks over at Jasmine and smiles for a second.

DEAN

Yeah, well he’s my baby brother and not the one who looks like a bus parked on his face.

Jasmine smiles

JASMINE

Well aren’t you cute.

Dean smiles back.

DEAN

Thanks, wish I could say the same for you.

SAM

(to Jasmine)

What happened?

JASMINE

What?

SAM

What happened to this body?

JASMINE

What does it look like, he had his

insides replaced with a chainsaw blade.

DEAN

I saw another body over there. Who was that?

JASMINE

He was an F.B.I. Agent. He heard about my friend and me disappearing. He was also interested in the back story of some house out in these woods.

SAM

What’s her name?

JASMINE

Nicole.

DEAN

So we’re on a rescue mission.

JASMINE

No you’re not. She is one of them now.

DEAN

How many of them are there?

JASMINE

A lot, like a small populated town.

Sam looks over at Dean as if to tell him that they need to converse without Jasmine present.

DEAN

(to Jasmine)

What are we dealing with?

(CUT TO BLACK)

EXT. JUST OUTSIDE A VILLAGE – NIGHT

Dean and Sam are coming up on a village.

JASMINE

(voice over)

You’re dealing with some kind of cult. There is a village near the base of the mountain and an entrance to a mineshaft somewhere in the town. It’s in one of the two story houses I think. Any answers that you are looking for concerning this cult are deep in the mountain.

Dean and Sam stop outside the village. Dean goes through one of their bags to fish out a pair of binoculars.

DEAN

Are you going to tell me what happened back there?

SAM

I don’t know something kind of took control over me, like someone just walked over my grave.

Dean looks through the binoculars.

(THROUGH THE BINOCULARS)

People who look like zombies roam aimlessly around the village.

DEAN

Well that’s vague, anything else?

SAM

Well that’s all I have. I suggest we focus on what’s going on here.

Dean looks as if he doesn’t want to drop the subject.

SAM

How many people are out there?

Dean hands the binoculars to Sam so he can see for himself.

DEAN

I can only see ten of them. No telling how many are in the homes. There are three two story houses. My guess is it the one on the other side of the village closer to the mountain.

SAM

How do you want to do this?

DEAN

Flank the east side. We will probably get a better view from there.

EXT. EAST SIDE OF THE VILLAGE

Dean and Sam hide behind a large rock. Dean looks through the binoculars.

SAM

What are we looking at?

DEAN

We’re good. This is going to be timed so keep up.

Dean holds his shotgun up, Sam with two pistols.

The Winchester brothers sneak up to the first home. Dean leads Sam to the edge of the house; he takes a peek around the corner. Quiet and swift are the key elements to entering the double tier house four spaces down.

The two are near breathless and undetectable when they reach the third house. Dean stops at the edge of the house, he peaks around the corner for possible entrances. The house is much longer than the others. The rear of the house is not visible from their vantage point.

DEAN

(whispering to Sam)

They’re four of them at the front of the house. We might have to expose ourselves to get to the back.

One of the zombie villagers walks out from the opposite side of where Dean and Sam are located and turns to face the two Winchester brothers.

When the villager sees the two intruders all the other villagers automatically know as a collective about their presence. The villagers that Dean sees turn their attention to Dean. The discovered Winchester retracts his head back.

SAM

(whispering to Dean)

What?

DEAN

(whispering to Sam)

They all turned and saw me.

Sam looks up in confusion then turns his attention to the one villager that still has an eye on them.

SAM

Crap.

Dean turns his attention to the villager that is monitoring them. The zombie raises its hand and yells out like an animal.

All of the villagers begin roaming to Dean and Sam’s location.

Both Dean and Sam look up at the window above their heads.

DEAN AND SAM

Window.

INT. HOUSE

Sam breaks the window and hops into the house followed by Dean. A bookshelf covered in cobwebs sits next to the window. Sam rushes to the opposite side of the bookshelf and pushes the termite infested wood-structure over the window. Dean grabs a wooden chair from a dinning table and props it against the bookshelf to reinforce it.

DEAN

Get the front door.

Sam rushes to the front of the house where the front door is being opened by one of the zombies. He slams a shoulder into the door to shut it quickly. The door shuts but cracks the old hinges. The entire door begins to slide back along with Sam.

Being overpowered by several zombies Sam thrusts one gun into the back of his pants and pushes on the door to close it. He doesn’t have enough strength and the door moves back even further. Options are running out quickly; he puts the gun up to the door and fires off a few rounds through the door and into the zombies.

Dean peaks his head out into the hallway.

DEAN

Sam?

SAM

Dean! I can’t hold them off!

Dean looks around then up.

Sam is continuing to loose the battle of the front door.

DEAN

(from the back of the house)

Sam, get back here.

SAM

But—

DEAN

Forget it! Get over here!

Sam is confused but puts his faith in Dean. He drops the door and three zombies fall onto their stomachs. They scramble to get back on their feet.

The back of the house is unoccupied, no sign of Dean. There is a loud banging coming from the bookshelf and Sam is feeling a lot exposed.

SAM

Dean?!

A hand drops down from above Sam’s head. It’s Dean.

DEAN

Grab my hand!

Sam grabs his hand and is pulled up to discover a small opening in the ceiling.

The two brothers crawl in a darkened space above the hallway. The room can be scene through the cracks in the boards. The home is filled with zombies below them. One of the zombies looks up to see the wooden planks moving. All of the zombies look up and stop moving.

Dean and Sam are crawling to the other end of the house when a fist punches through the wood belonging to one of the zombies, followed by five more.

SAM

Move!

Another fist pops up and grabs Dean by the back of the head and thrusts his face through the board.

Sam grabs Dean by the leg with one hand and grabs Dean’s shotgun with the other.

Dean’s face dips lower to the hungry mouth of the zombie.

Sam blows a hole through the roof of the house.

Dean’s face is about to be eaten when the barrel of a gun plunges down into the mouth of the zombie instead and blows a widow out the back of its head. Sam pulls Dean up and they escape to the rooftop.

EXT. THE ROOFTOP

Sam pulls Dean up to the roof. It is just a matter of time before the house is torn apart by the many zombies surrounding and approaching the house, almost one hundred.

SAM

Oh crap!

The house begins to shake.

INT. THE HOUSE

The zombie villagers are rocking the house back and forth to knock down the structure. A group of zombies begin lying down underneath the hole in the roof and begins piling themselves on top of each other to reach the roof.

EXT. THE ROOFTOP OF THE HOUSE

The house continues to shake.

SAM

We’re going to have to do something!

Dean looks around for an answer.

DEAN

I’m working on it!

SAM

Well what whatever it is work faster!

Dean looks across to the window of the adjacent house. He looks at the one window that is not boarded up from its previous occupants.

Dean awes in genius.

SAM

What?

DEAN

Give me the boom stick!

Sam tosses the shotgun to Dean. Cocked, aimed and fired at the window Dean presents his answer to their escape. Sam looks at the window and looks down in at the gap between the houses, the twenty-foot gap between the two houses.

Dean smiles at his lucky streak then looks down at the zombies that are not moving anymore. All of them are looking at the window that was just shot. The smile disappears.

SAM

I can’t do that!

DEAN

We need to move.
