ARITHMETIC REVIEW ASSIGNMENTS

The assigned homework given below is equivalent to the work done by students who attend the SOS sessions on campus; 4 hours a week in class plus assignments done at home.

  • You must complete all the assignmentson the syllabus in order to retest. This is also dependent on the amount of time spent on the assignments. See the next bullet.
  • The instructor will track the completion of the homework assignments through MyMathTest. The instructor will also be able to track the amount of time you spent attempting the problems. For example, the program will document if you complete homework assignment 1 in 5 minutes, and therefore, the instructor will know that you are not taking this review seriously.
  • The score on your assignments will not affect whether you retest.
  • You may redo the homework assignments as many times as you like as practice problems. The MyMathTest software is designed to ask you different questions on the same topics.
  • You may take Practice Tests that are provided by the software. Choose the topics for which you need more practice.

Policy to Retake the Placement Test

1)All online assignments must be completed by the re-test date.

2)All SOS students are required to read the novel,The Bond. This novel will be discussed during the Freshmen First-Year Orientation, Monday, August 27. All SOS students will submit the essay assignment on the day of testing. If the essay is not acceptable, then you will not be able to register for the new math course. The essay question is given in the Assignment table above.

The following is a guideline to an acceptable essay.

The essay should be in the form of a well-organized essay (do not write just a single paragraph).

Use evidence from the novelto support your thesis.

Be as careful as you can about grammar, spelling, sentence structure, and punctuation.

Be sure to proofread your essay before submitting the paper.

Go to the Reading-at-Orientation website at for information about the book such as a reading guide.
