·  Program Director Update – Rusty Burgett – complete report included at the end of the minutes. We currently have 18,500 ewes (260 flocks) enrolled in NSIP. Additionally we have 25-30 existing flocks but not yet paid in 2016. Breeder Forums will only be open to current NSIP members and will follow a 12 Step program. Rodney Kott asked Rusty to include in all breeder forums. The program is on increasing lamb production.
The new NSIP logo is available and all members need to update from the old logo.
All who attended the 2016 ASI Convention agreed that Rusty did phenomenally at the convention.

·  Executive Committee Report – Reid Redden presented a recommendation to the board that the office transition from Mary to Rusty be complete by July 1. Rodney Kott moved to accept and Walt Williams seconded. The recommendation passed.
Rusty will work with delinquent accounts on an individual basis. Currently any account over 90 days delinquent will not appear on the valid listing of membership. Complete report included at the end of the minutes.

·  Committee Reports

o  Technical Committee – Ron Lewis wasn’t able to attend meeting but his full report is included at the end of the minutes. Bill Shultz commented what a great impression Ron made at the 2016 ASI Convention. NSIP should work toward ensuring his presence at all conventions. Rusty shared that Ron will be present at all planned Breeder Forums this year.

o  Promotion & Education Committee – John Carlson reported that there have been some changes/updates to Pedigree Master. All users need to update their software if they haven’t already done so prior to submitting any data. John will be working on updating the manual by July 1.

o  Goat Committee – Report included at the end of the minutes.

·  John Carlson moved to adjourn.

·  Next meeting May 12,2016 @ 7 p.m. CST

Treasurers Report:

Attached are the financial statements from Larry Kincaid as well as our typical breakdown of the P&L by "Pass-Thru" and "Ordinary" operations. There are a couple items to note. Our current cash on hand is $57k.... a nice improvement from where we stood just a few months ago. We had large enrollment fee receits in February and are now just $4k short of our 2016 budget level. This is a good indication that Rusty's work is paying dividends. We will check to see how many members took advantage of the early-bird discount which was available only through January. This fiscal year, we've collected about $6.4 in data fees but have paid nothing to Sheep Genetics. Essentially an accrued liability.

Goat Committee Report

I have had something come up and will not be able to make the call.

On the goat side, AGF is wanting to work on finding a performance based program to support and get producers moving forward on improved performance data reporting and utilization. I am supporting NSIP to be that program for them and hopefully we will be able to get something more formal along those lines this year.

I know of one additional meat goat herd that should be submitting data soon if they have not already done so, this is a Kiko herd from the west coast. I am trying to work with the North American Savanna Association to recommend using NSIP to their members as a performance based program. They claim to be focused on performance, my push is to get them to back that up with a program.

I look forward to having FEC EBVs available, I would like to bring that to the Kiko associations as well as the Boer and Savanna people as soon as we have it along with proper collection practices for the data. I believe that this can be a strong selling tool for goat breeders to show that their breeding stock is resistant to parasites. That being a major issue for the industry at this time.

Thank you, and sorry I cannot be on the call this time.
