Pacific recommends completing 70 units to facilitate starting the Evening Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies Program. Grades of “C” or higher are required in these courses.

Note: The BA in Liberal Studies at UOP does not require a language other than English.

Electives: Students need electives to reach the desired 70-unit total. Additional transferable courses may come from child development, mathematics, sciences, foreign and sign languages, literature, history, art, music, PE activity—see ROAR (UOP’s Registrar’s site) for transferability of specific SJDC courses. Students can choose from the following courses:

Educ 10 & 10L (This course is transferable, but it does not waive UOP’s Educ 140 and 141 in the Multiple Subject Credential or Education Specialist Credential programs. Evening program graduates who are accepted for a graduate program to earn a Multiple Subject or Education Specialist (Special Education) credential should consult with the Curriculum and Instruction Department chair.)

Concentrations: The Evening BALS degree program includes two concentrations in early childhood education and special education. These courses are taken at Pacific after transfer.

Note: The evening degree program requires completion of a minimum of 66-67 transferable units, and no more than 4 core courses that remain to be completed. The recommended number of transferable units to be completed when starting is 70 units. Careful planning for transfer to the evening program is strongly encouraged. UOP advisors in the School of Education are available to help with planning one or more years in advance of transfer for the evening program. CBEST must be taken and recommended to be passed if planning on earning a teaching credential after the bachelor’s degree. Students can take it during the first two years at SJDC.
