ESDAILE MOOT COURT STUDENT JUDGE RESPONSIBILITIES
Your role as a Student Judge is to judge practice oral arguments and final oral arguments in the Esdaile Program. If you ever had a question, just email the Directors at . Your responsibilities are as follows:
March
1.Read your seminar’s moot court case and bench memorandum (we will email them out to all student judges).
2.Contact the Writing Instructor of the seminar to which you have been assigned. If your Instructor doesn’t contact you within a few days, you can get the Instructor’s telephone number or email address from Danin Room 510. You should introduce yourself to the Instructor and give him or her your telephone number and email address. We will assign you to an Instructor in mid-March.
3.Contact the Writing Instructor to discuss scheduling of practice oral arguments. Tell the Instructor your schedule for April 3 - 7, to ensure that the Instructor schedules practice arguments when you are available to attend (to the extent possible).
4.Send a copy of your class schedule for the Esdaile Directors to to avoid scheduling conflicts for oral arguments. Arguments take place from April 10 - 27, Mondays through Thursdays at approximately 4:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m., and 8:00 p.m. and Fridays at 3:00 p.m. (excluding Patriots’ Day). If you have any other conflicts that make you unavailable to judge at a particular time on a particular date, and you did not submit the conflict on your application, send the Directors an email no later than March31.

5.Serve on the bench for your writing seminar’s practice oral arguments, your schedule permitting, along with the Writing Instructor and the seminar’s Writing Fellow. Practice oral arguments typically take place fromApril 3 - 7.
6.Check the Esdaile oral argument schedules posted on-line to find out which arguments you are scheduled to judge. You must check the schedules regularly throughout April to see when you are judging. The Directors will post argument schedules one week in advance of each week’s arguments, at
7.Serve on the bench for three to five final Esdaile oral arguments (potentially fewer) on the same case for which you served as a practice judge.
