/ Meeting Called to Order
/ Chair, Marcia Taylor, discussed FAIE’sMission --to promote the advancement of international educational exchange in the state of Florida – and our 501(c)(3) tax status. FAIE has no membership fees. Members meet during district workshops or meetings in our five districts – Miami, Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville East, and Jacksonville West – and at our annual conference. FAIE offers training related to international education.

/ Treasurer Report
  • FAIE assets totaled $1,740 at the end of 2009.
January 2007 Beginning Balance: / $2,265
Total Cash Receipts for 2009: / $15,251
Total Expenses for 2009: / - $15,776
December 2007 Ending Balance: / $1,740
  • FAIE filed Federal Taxes for the first time in 2009. This tax filing included receipts and expenses related to FILC for 2008.
  • FAIE is now required to file taxes each year before May 15.
  • The following financial information is posted to our website per the public disclosure requirement of our non-profit 501(c)(3) status:

/ By-law VOTE
  • Chair discussed FAIE Board recommended by-law updates
  • Article V – Terms of Office paragraph two – change Chair elect term from one year to two years so the chair stream always includes two people.
  • Article V – Terms of Office paragraph three – change four previous years to term.
  • Article V – Terms of Office paragraph six – add Admissions, Study Abroad, English Language Programs, Secondary Schools to list of area coordinators as reflected in other sections of the by-laws.
  • Description of Responsibilities FAIE Chair Elect – change term to two years and appointment to read “election during annual spring conference of second year of State chair’s term of office” – to make consistence with by-laws.
  • Description of Responsibilities – small grammatical changes
  • All changes passed by unanimous vote of membership.

/ Election for Treasurer
  • Chair called for nominations from the floor for the position of Treasurer.
  • Dawn Harris Wooten was nominated for the position of Treasurer.
  • By unanimous vote, Dawn Harris Wooten was elected to the position of Treasurer.

/ Chair discussed changes to the FAIE Listserv and apologized for the large number of emails from members during the summer. The listserv will be used for Board posts only. If members have information to be posted send to our Listserv Coordinator.
/ FILC – Jenifer Rollins updated the membership on the successful 2010 FILC.
/ Chair announced that the 2010 NAFSA Region VII Conference will be in Jacksonville October 25-28 at the Hyatt River Hotel. Tim Robinson is Local Arrangements Chair. Members interested in volunteering should contact Tim.
/ Meeting was Adjourned.
