General description
The MonoMouseand ColorMouse with screen offer MD Mode, which provides pure white text on a black background for maximum contrast and reduced glare for anyone with acute sensitivity to light. This can be especially beneficial for anyone with Macular Degeneration. Other features include greyscale image, full colour (ColorMouse version only) and pure black text on a white background.
Orientation
The Mouse has a halved pear shaped plastic body with a silver coloured top half and a black flat base. The flat surface has the video camera underneath set back in a square recess.The Mouse sits naturally in the palm of the hand with the combined camera video signal and cable going towards the Windows computer.
Position the screen in front of you so you can feel the control panel on the right hand edge, just behind the screen. Starting from the top there are 3 buttons that are used to set the clock – the top button raises the digit being changed, the middle button lowers the digit being changed and the bottom button accesses the clock settings and confirms when the digit being set it correct. Below these buttons is a USB socket, the camera socket (LJ45 socket), and thenthe power socket.
Getting started
Connecting the Mouse
Carefully place the screen face down. Position it so that the row of 3 buttons is on the left hand edge, with the buttons furthest away from you.
The stand is in 2 parts – the leg and a twist screw with large head for turning. Align the hole in the stand with the hole in the back of the screen and then insert the screw section of the twist screw. Rotate clockwise to tighten into place.
Now stand the unit upright and plug in the camera by inserting the connector with the lever facing towards the back of the unit,into the camera socket (LJ45). Do not force the connector into the socket as it will only go one way. (Press this lever to release and disconnect the camera if required).
Now plug the power supply connector, on the end of the power cable, into the screen’s power socket. Plug the 3 pin plug into a suitable wall outlet.
Note: The Screen will turn on automatically when first connected to a power source.
Using the product
Position the remote control in your hand so that there is a large round button at the top of the control. This is the power button. Press this to begin. Below the power button are the following buttons (from left to right):
- Photo function button –insert a USB loaded with photos into the USB socket on the side of the screen, by pressing this button, the screen will go into photo mode.
- Play button – this will begin to cycle through the photos on your inserted USB
- Magnification button – press this button to go into magnification mode
Below the play button is the clock button. By pressing this button the clock will be displayed.
Magnification mode
When in magnification mode, by pressing the magnification button if it’s not already on, the Mouse can be moved over any printed materials (books, newspapers, bottles, cans, instructions etc).The magnified image will be displayed on the screen.
Clock mode
When in clock mode, by pressing the clock button if it’s not already on, the screen will display the time and date. To set the time and date, when in clock mode press the 3rd button down on the side of the screen to access the settings.
Firstly the year canbe changed. To raise the number press the top button on the side of the screen. To lower, press the middle button. Press the 3rd button down to confirm.
You can then change the month. Change the number in the same way as above.
After changing the month, you can change the date in the same way. Then the hour, and then the minute.
