MSI Consultant (SLT) Maternity cover

Dear Candidate

Many thanks for showing an interest in Children’s Specialist Services

Working for Sense is hard work, fun and provides tremendous satisfaction.

In Sense professionals we look for a mixture of engagement (we love working with, supporting and helping a wide range of people), values (this role represents Sense to the wider community and is a role model to our local staff) and positive tenacity (we don’t give up).

We are seeking speech and language therapist with experience of working with children who are deafblind who can complement our multi-disciplinary team with a primary focus on our traded activities. These include:

  • Delivery of national training calendar
  • Provision of SLT support in schools
  • Undertaking statutory assessments, including EHC plan assessments

In addition there may be some activities that contribute to our charity funded work:

  • Delivering packages of support (such as an SLT to help deliver our parent child interaction programme, qualified assessors to provide assessments of needs or practitioners negotiating with relevant statutory agencies)
  • Developing resources and national sector support

These two aspects of the role will entail organisation and engagement in a wide range of activities with support from the wider team within Children’s Specialist Services.

This post will be integral to identify, support, advise and represent deafblind children, young people and their families. Reporting to the professional SLT lead / Head of Service the post holder will work within one of our locality teams, depending on location.

The role is part of the national Children’s Specialist Services team; it is a great service so you will get support and guidance but will also be expected to contribute to the national plans and deliver to targets.

Still interested?

If it is not clear already this is a key role which could provide a lot of satisfaction in helping children, young people and their families to develop, achieve and make the most of their lives.
