Advanced Math Project due Tuesday, May 13th

Now that you have your education & career, you must get a place to live. This task requires you build a home based on what you can afford (your salary). In this project you will be creating a blue print floor plan and a virtual model of your home using the website www,floorplanner.com. This dream home will include everything and anything you desire while still fitting into your budget. It will also include some of the geometrical concepts you have studied this year You will be the architect andthe construction manager of this project. In the North Texas area, it costs about $80 per square foot to build a home, so take that into consideration in your design.

PART I: FLOOR PLAN DRAWING

The first phase of your project will be to create a blue print and virtualmodel of at least one floor of your home. It must include measurements of each room and at least one of each of these types of shapes:

  • Square
  • Rectangle
  • Triangle
  • Circle (at least a portion of a circle, for example a semi circle)

Your home must have these elements:

Each of your rooms must be clearly labeled (what type of room is it and what type of shape it is) and neatly drawn.

  • Rooms Required (At least):
  • 2 bedrooms
  • 2 bathrooms
  • 1 kitchen
  • 1 garage
  • 1 living room

You must use color and make this dream home appealing.

Your home should have realistic measurements, and should be something someone would actually live in. Refer to floor plans on the internet for assistance.

Be CREATIVE! Have fun with the design and make it very imaginative.

Furnishing your home is optional & not required.

Attach the mathematical calculations, the blue print (aerial view), and virtual 3-D model to attach to your final budget project.

PART 2: AREA CALCULATIONS

You will need to produce clear calculations for the area of each room & total square footage for your home.

PART 3 : COST OF HOME

Use the area calculations to determine the final cost of building (based on $80 per sq ft).

OBJECTIVE: You will design your dream house with a floor plan drawing, area calculations, and total expenses. You are to incorporate what we have learned about geometry into your house.

GUIDING QUESTIONS: Here are some questions that will help you out: creativity (Is this done with flare?) visual (Does it grab the attention of audience?), mathematical accuracy (Is it financially feasible?)
