INTERACT – DISTRICT 9350
- THE PURPOSE & GOALS OF INTERACT:
Purpose: To provide the opportunity for young people to work together
in a World Fellowship dedicated to Service and Mutual Understanding.
Goals
- To recognise and develop constructive leadership and personal integrity.
- To encourage and practice thoughtfulness and helpfulness to others.
- To create an awareness of the importance of home and family.
- To build respect for the rights of others and recognise the worth of each individual.
- To emphasize acceptance of individual responsibility as the basis of personal success and hard work resulting in Community improvement and Group achievement.
- To recognise the dignity and value of all occupations as opportunities to serve society.
- To provide opportunities for gaining increased knowledge of world, national and community affairs.
- To open avenues of personal and group action, leading to the advancement of international understanding and goodwill toward all people.
- STRATEGY - CO-OPERATION & COLLABORATION
- The Sponsoring Rotary Clubs
Actively encourage a closer communication between the Sponsoring Rotary Club and the Interact Clubs by gathering the names of all the Interact Liaison persons per Rotary Club - ie. Youth Director and / or the Interact person (formerly referred to as the Interact Daddy) and keeping in regular email communication with them.
Rotarians are asked to pass on any information / Rotary communications and projects etc to the Interact President. In other words, form a good working and fellowship relationship with the Clubs.
All these young adults want is to be given a tiny space in your heart so that they may flourish and grow.
- School Support
We have found that when there is an enthusiastic Teacher at schools, the Interact Clubs work very well and are active
It is not always easy for a teacher to take on this extra workload, but we do have some wonderful staff members to whom we are greatly indebted.
Historically, the Rotary Clubs have often left the running of the Interact Clubs to the domain of these teachers, and had very little input. We would like to see a new approach, with loads of interaction (pardon the Pun) between the two Presidents and their respective Clubs
- Parent Support
We have, and will continue to rely heavily on our Interactor parents to provide the much needed- transport, telephone, cell and email communication lines and of course the financial assistance to keep things going. This invaluable support is much appreciated by all Rotarians on the District committee, for without it, we would have a hard time.
However, more and more of our Interactors’ parents are not financially able to contribute in the same way.
Solution: We need to rely more on both the Rotarians from the Sponsoring Rotary Clubs and the Schoolteachers – all of whom are already feeling the squeeze.
- Mutual Support
Interact Clubs can support other Interact Clubs:
-Encourage joint projects between your own and other Interact Clubs.
-Arrange to a Raid another Interact Club meeting or even a visit of the Interact Club members to another School for the day
-Share fund raisers with the Rotary Club
Interact Presidents and Board Members should support the Club:
-Setting an example – be a Role Model to the rest of the Club members
-Be enthusiastic and Hard working
-Live the programme with commitment and Integrity
-Think of new ideas and ways
-Be open to suggestions
-Create and nurture a strong support team to follow in the next year
