Company Arrangement for

Health & Safety at Work

1  ‘Generic’ Activities

The company regularly operates in a variety of disciplines. The Safety methods pursuant to these operations are set down in accordance with the Construction, Design, and Management Regulations (1994) and are contained within the company’s ‘Generic’ Safety Method Statements which are incorporated as part of the Health & Safety Policy.

2  ‘Supplementary’ Activities

The company also, on occasion, may be involved in operations outside of its normal scope of work. In such cases, additional Safety Method Statements are produced, and recorded as supplementary appendices to the Health & Safety Policy.

3  Additional Arrangements not covered in Sections ‘1’ & ‘2’ above.

1  Vibration Equipment

The company shall, where reasonably practical, minimise the risk of neurological injury, by, ensuring that equipment and/or the operators Personal Protection Equipment is adequately protected against such injury. The company will also ensure that prolonged periods of use are avoided, and/or, provide adequate respite periods during operation.

2  Emergency procedures for permanent Sites

Each Office will appoint a Fire Officer who will be responsible for: ~

a)  The recording of ‘on site’ personnel.

b)  The location and recording of Fire Extinguishers.

c)  The training of personnel in the use of Fire Extinguishers

d)  The periodic exercising of Fire Drills

e)  The undertaking of Fire preventative measures

f)  The recording of any Flammable or hazardous products on site.

3  Alcohol & Drugs

a)  The taking of Alcohol during employed hours is strictly prohibited, except at the discretion of the Director.

b)  The taking of non-prescribed drugs is similarly prohibited.

c)  Employees must not, under any circumstances operate machinery or equipment whilst under the influence of Alcohol or Drugs. Breach of this rule will result in disciplinary action.

4  Trainees/Work Experience/employees under the age of Eighteen

All persons placed with the company with a training programme must be under full supervision at all times. They must not operate machinery, or equipment, or act as ‘banksman’ where prohibited under law. Operations not subject of these restrictions must be conducted under full and constant supervision until such time as the individual is passed as proficient in the activity.
