Summary of main functions and purpose of job
The incumbent will be responsible for the full accounts payable function, from source documentation to trial balance. Furthermore, the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring all transactions are recorded in the correct ledger and computing, classifying and recording numerical data to keep financial records.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to all relevant financial and accounting policies and procedures.
- Daily maintenance and processing of the Cashbooks by accurate allocation of all banking transactions and clearing of sub ledgers.
- Ensure that all EFT [Electronic Fund Transfer] payments are loaded on NMCH banking system and that suppliers are paid timeously.
- Ensure that principles of accurate accounting are applied through timeous communication.
- Valid accruals to be provided for in the correct accounting periods, scrutinising of all general journal entries and timeous processing according to monthly submissions time-table.
- Ensure that all Intercompany loan accounts are processed accurately and completed according to the monthly submissions time-table.
- Ensure the monthly maintenance of Sundry Accounts Payable, by reconciling Bank / Sundry GL accounts and checking that payments are allocated accordingly.
- Record general journal entries.
- Assisting with the preparation and submission of Financial Pack.
- Assist with statement for cash flows.
Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12 or equivalent NQF level 4 qualification
- Financial Accounting qualification
- A minimum of 3 years working experience essential
- Previous experience within a Hospital environment preferred
- SAP experience advantageous
