The Epsilon Tau (New York City-Wide) Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. is offering the Elizabeth Darguste Academic Excellence Scholarship. The purpose of the scholarship program is to provide a way for graduating seniors of color to alleviate some of the costs associated with a college education. About the Scholarship

The Epsilon Tau Chapter will award one-time scholarship packages to one (1) deserving female student of color and (1) deserving male of color in the amount of $500 each. This award is in memory of our beloved Soror Elizabeth Darguste, who passed away in 1995 from complications of sickle cell anemia disease. Elizabeth Chantal Darguste was born on December 4, 1968 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Elizabeth attended New York University where she received both a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and a Masters degree in Public Administration. Ms. Darguste dedicated herself to improving access to housing for homeless children and served as a role model for underprivileged youth throughout the city. Ms. Darguste was heavily involved in social action issues, especially empowering children from disadvantaged communities.
