Faculdade de Economia da Universidade Nova de Lisboa chosen as the Portuguese member of the CEMS community

FEUNL is now part of an exclusive club of the best international management schools and will now offera Masters in International Management program, ranked 2ndin the world by the Financial Times

The Faculdade de Economia da Universidade Nova de Lisboa has been chosen as the CEMS member in Portugal.

CEMS is a strategic alliance among top management schools – only one per country – and multinational corporate partners, with the objective of establishing a global pattern of excellence in the teaching of pre-experience Masters in Management.

CEMS works as a restricted club of top schools. Access is exclusive as it only selects one school per country and, unlike international accreditations it is closed to another school’s access.

For Professor José Ferreira Machado, Dean of the FEUNL - “the Faculdade de Economia da Universidade Nova de Lisboa’s entry to this exclusive club is, most of all, an international recognition of the quality and prestige of management education and research in Portugal, showing the importance of our country on the world map of higher education in this scientific area.”

CEMS schools offer a joint Masters degree in international management (Masters in International Management - MIM), that is currently ranked second place in the Financial Times ranking of pre-experience Masters Programs. Until now, no program offered by a Portuguese school has been present in that ranking. FEUNL’s entrance in this alliance will allow Masters’ students in Portugal an exclusive access to this excellent program, opening new doors to relevant international careers.

This Masters in International Management, jointly offered by member schools, clearly shows the importance given, in a constantly changing world, to cultural flexibility. As highlighted by Professor João Amaro de Matos, Associate Dean for International Affairs at FEUNL, “besides the requirementof fluency in three languages, the program implements the concept of international mobility amongtop level institutions, as students must attend one semester in their school of origin and another semester at another CEMS school, besides taking part ininternational internships with CEMS institutional partners.”
