**THIS MUST BE HANDWRITTEN.**

Create a Greek Mythology and The Odyssey Anthology

For any missing or failing grades (lower than a 75), you must complete the following assignment.

Your notebook must include the following information:

  • Create a Table of Contents so that you are organized and able to easily reference specific material. You may want to leave the first two pages available so that you can add to the table as you read and take notes.
  • Identify the twelve principal gods (Greek and Roman names). Include the characteristics and the dominions (areas over which they have control) of each god as well as any symbols or animals associated with each. You may want to create a chart as a visual representation of this information. An interesting addition is to include the relationship among the gods, somewhat like their own family tree.
  • Choose five lesser gods, gods of water, and gods of the underworld, nymphs, and/or mythical creatures and identify two facts about each. Again, you may organize your information in a chart form. Remember specific details will help you later.
  • Take notes on the plot details of these myths.

a. Persephone b. Gaea c. Flower-Myths: Narcissus, Hyacinth, Adonis d.Pandora e. Daedalus and Icarus f. Midas g. Pegasus and Bellerophon h. Arachne and Minerva

  • List the events/people in the lives of the heroes: Perseus, Theseus, Jason and Hercules.

Keeping the lists in chronological order will assist in the understanding of each hero’s life.

  • Mythology’s Modern Influence

You will find five examples of products or companies whose names have a mythological connection. You will include the name of the product, the connection to Greek mythology, and whatever inference you have made. You will also need to include an example of an advertisement associated with this product or company.

Example: Name – Dove soap – beauty bar

Mythology – The dove is a symbol for Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty.

Inference – Since Aphrodite is the goddess of beauty, Dove soap not only gets a person clean; it also makes them beautiful, like the goddess.

  • Homer’s Odyssey

Go through each of the stops on Odysseus’s journey home summarizing each story and for each 14 destinations provide an alternate way that Odysseus and his men could have avoided the conflict to get home sooner. Each stop should be a minimum of 5 detailed, descriptive sentences.

  • Vocabulary
  • Part A: Define all of Unit 1 and 2 vocabulary words by creating a vocabulary analysis square for each word. Each of the surrounding boxes should include a picture, book definition and definition in your own words, example sentence, and the synonyms/antonyms.
  • Part B: For each unit write two-three paragraphs about your day/week/month/general life using at least 10 of the vocabulary in your response. Underline the vocabulary word so that it can be identified.
