In your final project, show the class how the portrayal of the hero reflects the myths of Ancient Greece and the society in which it was created.

·  Since Ancient Greek times, artists have continued to use the stories of Ancient Greece as a subject for their artwork. Choose a myth or a particular god or goddess. Explore artwork created with different mediums and artwork that depicts the god, goddess or myth. The artwork should be from different time periods. Your final project should display the artwork and explain how the depictions differ and what they reflect about the artists and the time period in which they were created.

Explore how women are portrayed in the artwork of Ancient Greece and Rome. Are the depictions similar to the portrayal of women in the myths we studied? Your final project should analyze the portrayal of women in the art of Ancient Greece and Rome. What does the art work tell us about the Ancient Greeks and society’s view of women?

Research the theaters: year built, acoustics, performances, performers, purpose of performances, attendees, current use of the theaters. Your presentation of Greek theaters should include photos, diagrams of the theaters, explanations of the performances and information on those who attended the performances.
