Emergency Plan
In case of emergency, CDT always has a manager on call to direct staff on proper procedure. Managers are required to have this protocol on their person at all times when they are on call. Matt Lundgren (630-707-4498),Lashanda Brown (312-391-2571), Lisa Maurer (773-746-3042), Wes Gipson (312-560-6155), and Ed Estrada (312-953-4190)are the managers on call. Mohammad Khan (312-439-8183) is to be called for any IT emergency. At no time will all be unavailable to receive a call. In addition, all supervisors and managers in other departments are aware of this plan and expected to have their departments in compliance and fully prepared for any emergency, whether covered in this plan or otherwise. During normal business hours, Matt or other manager will then contact Pace Contract Manager and make them aware of the situation. After hours, the following phone tree will be used until someone is reached, Project Manager Ryan Forst at 224-200-5417, City Service Manager Bill Martin at 847-903-429, Contracts Manager Rosemary Gerty at 224-279-3319, and finally Division Manager Sally Ann Williams at 847-489-6185.
Cook DuPage Transportation currently uses a GennracGBU 403 natural gas generator that comes online immediately in case of a power failure. This generator is tested weekly, the test runs automatically, a log is kept in the shop to show that the generator runs weekly. The generator keeps both buildings operating at capacity during failures, except for the car wash.
In the event of a phone system failure, please see the plan at the end of this document.
In the event of a total MDT failure, CDT runs backup manifests hourly and saves these on a non-Pace computer. Dispatchers will perform trips manually by having drivers radio into dispatch their arrival and departure information into Trapeze.
In the event of a natural disaster or problem in or around our building, CDT does operate some vehicles outside of the 1200 W Fulton location. Approximately 32 vehicles operate from employee homes, and 32 vehicles operate from 4155 W. Chicago Ave. Additionally each night we park a number of vehicles (approx. 80) in our secure lot so that we can move vehicles from the property at 1200 W Fulton in three different directions by using access on Fulton St, Racine Ave, and Carroll St, direct access to Elizabeth St is also available through an alley giving us egress on four streets if necessary. Additionally, we do have Trapeze access at the Chicago Ave address if needed and managers can access Trapeze remotely from home.
In the event of inclement weather, CDT stock piles salt, shovels, and scrapers for the vehicles and buildings, CDT will place road monitors and extra drivers on standby. Lateness and call off related discipline will be waived if needed. Additional measures, such as shuttling people between the train and office will be undertaken on an as needed basis.
In the event of our fuel pumps becoming disabled for an extended time, we have a relationship with multiple gas stations within one mile of the 1200 W Fulton location that can provide us fuel on demand.
In the event of an epidemic or other event that causes a shortage of employees with short notice, we keep up to date phone and contact lists for employees willing to be called in to work when they are not scheduled. These lists are maintained in each department where they can be most readily accessed by those who would take action to find relief.
In an addition to testing the generator weekly, CDT will hold an emergency drill quarterly to determine the effectiveness of all back-up procedures.
In any other unnamed emergencies, the proper course of action will be determined by one of the managers on call.
