GUIDE TO TEACHER TIME
Each afternoon, excluding the first day of program, there will be a 1 hour and 15 minute block where you are needed to supervise your students. We have indoor and outdoor facilities for you if you’d like to: play games, create arts and crafts projects, sing songs, have your students write in their journals, etc. We have playground balls, basketballs, soccer balls, hula-hoops, ping-pong, tennis, and other items for your disposal. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
PICK UP AND DROP OFF
You will meet with instructors at the Hitching Post at 3:15 PM sharp to pick up your students. Cabin Instructors will meet you at the Hitching Post at 4:30 PM where you will drop off your students. Please have your students line up by cabin in front of the Hitching Post.
RADIO
Please check in with the Medic, Directors or Duty Manager prior to Teacher Time to obtain a radio (if you need one) and to inform him/her of your whereabouts during Teacher Time.
OUTDOOR SPACES
Please take advantage of the wonderful outdoor areas that we have while you are with your students. We suggest using the lawns close to the Hitching Post. If you want to take your students on trail it would be great; just talk to one of the administrators so we know where you are. Unfortunately, you cannot use the low ropes course, climbing wall, archery range, canoe lagoon, pool, or other areas that pose a liability risk during this time.
INDOOR SPACES
If you would like an indoor space due to the type of activity you have planned, ask us in advance. If it is wet or cold out, we will let you know what spaces you can use for Teacher Time. There is usually space in the Hitching Post or another resort building on rainy days.
CABINS
Please do not send students into their cabins during Teacher Time unless you are supervising them. Students are not allowed to hang out in their cabins during Teacher Time.
STUDENT SUPERVISION
Students need to be supervised 24 hours a day while they are attending our program. Please ensure that students are under direct supervision during Teacher Time.
BATHROOMS
Most students will have the opportunity to use the bathroom just prior to Teacher Time. Please note that the shower house (located behind the Hitching Post) is closed for cleaning during Teacher Time. If a student needs to use the bathroom, please have them take a buddy and use either the bathroom inside of the Hitching Post or on the front porch. Do not send any students unsupervised to use the bathroom or other facilities!
