Lift operators will be available on both Friday and Saturday in every residential building to assist with the safe and correct operation of the lifts. There are concerns that lifts may become damaged during the move in process with new arrivals jamming open doors while moving in belongings. The lift operators will be available to provide the appropriate lift operation but will be unable to assist with any manual handling of personal belongings.
The role of all staff working in the Marquees on the Friday and Saturday is to meet and greet new students and their parents, signpost information and services, provide reassurance and generally make them feel at home. The information below is designed to help with some basic queries.
Note on Student ID Cards New students will not receive the first payment of their student loan until they have collected their ID card and therefore confirmed to the University that they are actually here (i.e. online enrolment is no longer sufficient to release the loan). The ID cards will be available from Fulton House Dining Room C on Friday 19th September to Friday 25th September but students are encouraged to collect their ID Cards over Arrivals Weekend.

MASO – Tuition Fees, Loans and Grants
When will I get my Student Loan payment?
The student loan company advises payments will be made on 21nd September 2015 as long as the student has enrolled, collected their ID card and funding has been confirmed. However, as students cannot get their ID’s before Friday 18th September, realistically the earliest any student will receive payment will be around 25th September as payment will take 4-5 working days to be released. Any problems, please contact MASO.
I can’t enrol because my tuition fee loan has yet to be confirmed?
You should call the enrolment hotline so they can check why your tuition fee loan hasn’t been confirmed. It is likely they will also advise you to complete the direct debit mandate in order to enrol. If there are issues with your student funding, you should contact MASO so we can help ensure the issues are resolved.
But I don’t have the money in my account to pay the fees?
The direct debit payment date is November 12th so no money will leave your account and MASO will advise further once you visit them.
What if I have no money to live on before my loan is paid?
Contact MASO ASAP! MASO staff are available throughout arrivals weekend so contact if urgent.
I’m a Care Leaver and want to know how to access the University’s support package?
