Onsite versus Outreach

Our ONSITE programs include a guided, curriculum-driven hike through our woodland or wetland trails, one or two related activities, animal biofacts, and an animal presentation. The ChattahoocheeNatureCenterwill reimburse any transportation costs you incur for this program in traveling to the NatureCenter.

We are also able to bring most of our programs to your school. The OUTREACH takes place in your classroom or auditorium and includes everything offered in the onsite program except for the trails and the use of our property. Our auditorium Outreach classes, “Hunters in the Sky”, “Owl Wise”, and “Georgia Wildlife Journey”, can be taught to up to 150 students at a time and includemultiple live animals.

Onsite Availability: Programmingis available September through March; however, those middle and high schools requesting Water Studies or Tree ID programsmay and are required to choose dates in September-December and March. Class times are 10:00-12:45; late arrivals cannot be given more time.

Outreach Availability: Individual classand auditorium outreaches are available September through March. Programs can begin as early as 9AM. Outreach and Partnerships Coordinator will contact you and work closely with you to plan a customized schedule for your outreach program.

Please be sure this number is accurate.Max of 150 students per day for onsite programs. Multiple days can be used to meet all of your programming needs. Max number of students varies for outreach programs.

Onsite Field Studies Day

  • Schools should plan to arrive at 10AM, and if staying for a picnic lunch leave by 1PM.
  • Spend 1hr 15min hiking the trails with our naturalists and participating in hands-on activities. This portion of your visit is scheduled for 11:30-12:45PM.
  • Plan for a self-guided tour of our Wildlife Walk during your visit, exploring the Bird of Prey Aviaries, Beaver Habitat, and Butterfly Garden (30 minutes)
  • Spend time in our interpretative DiscoveryCenter (30 minutes)
  • Bring your own brown-bag lunches to enjoy in the picnic facilities (30 minutes)
