Talbot Village Trust supports youth relationship skills charity
Talbot Village Trust (TVT)has provided the funds needed to refurbish and re-equip the office of a local charity, which runs relationship skills workshops for young people.
TheMARS (modelling active relationship skills)Trust received a donation of £2,000 from the grant giving charity, TVT, to purchase new office furniture and equipment needed to create a better work place environment for volunteer training sessions and internal meetings.
GregDollerson, Trustee of the MARS Trust, explained:‘‘Our team of trained volunteersprovide a series of workshops in schools for around 2,000 students each year. We aim to equip young people with vital relationship skills, enabling them to build and sustain positive relationships in all areas of life.
‘‘MARS is entirely reliant on volunteers and funding so we are very grateful for Talbot Village Trust’s generous donation of £2,000. The granthas transformedour office into a more efficient and enjoyable working place, by creating a suitable and practical space forvolunteer training and workshop material preparation.’’
Russell Lucas-Rowe, Trustee, added:‘‘Talbot Village Trust is dedicated to helping a wide variety of causes through its funding, and the MARS Trust is no exception. Relationship skills are so important for the personal development of each young person, therefore we felt it was essential to help the MARS Trust continue to have a positive lasting impact on the students who they visit.’’

The Talbot Village Trust is the legacy of two sisters who founded Talbot Village in the mid-19th century as a reaction to rural poverty. The village provided housing, a school and a church as well as agricultural land to grow food. Thanks to the sisters’ philanthropic approach and a careful investment programme, the Trustees have been able to maintain and increase the value of the fund.
