JOB TITLE: Professional Development Manager,

ECIA NSW/ACT

CONTRACT: Fixed term contract for one year.

Part time (22.5 hrs per week)

SALARY: $88,920 (pro rata 3 days) plus super

LOCATION: ECIA NSW/ACT Office: Sydney CBD

Early Childhood Intervention Australia (ECIA) is the peak national organisation promoting the interests of young children with disabilities and developmental delays and their families. It has a national and State/Territory structure, with the majority of members being early childhood intervention (ECI) professionals working, including small community organisations, large disability and children’s services agencies and various community organisations, reflecting the diverse ways in which services to young children and their families are provided. ECI have in some regions been Government-funded agencies. With the transition to the National Disability insurance Scheme (NDIS) this will change to a more market driven service approach. Our membership is based in urban, rural and regional centres throughout the country.

The Mission of ECIA is to:

·  Promote awareness of the importance of early childhood intervention and inclusion for children with disabilities and developmental delays, their families and communities.

·  Represent, support and develop organisations, professionals and practitioners working with young children with disabilities and developmental delays and their families and communities.

The key strategic objectives for ECIA NSW/ACT in 2015- 2016 are:

1.  Influence, inform and educate government, industry and professional associations, tertiary education providers and community stakeholders about the importance of Early Childhood Intervention and Inclusion.

2.  Develop and support ECIA and the ECI sector capabilities, in preparedness for the NDIS national reforms.

3.  Enhance professional development and training for the ECI/EC sectors; and engage with the ECIA membership.

4.  In relating to structure and administration, ECIA NSW/ACT, its Board and CEO, will govern and manage the organisation effectively, efficiently and sustainably, reflecting good professional association and governance practices. This will include continuous improvements in services to members; strategic and business planning; effective and sustainable finances and administration, robust HR policies and staff development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Professional Development Manager ECIA NSW/ACT is responsible for developing and leading the Professional Development program for the ECIA NSW/ACT sector, including ECI practitioners, ECI private practitioners and the wider early childhood and related NGO sectors, by identifying and capitalising on opportunities in the current climate of transition to the National Disability Insurance Scheme. The intention of the position is to ensure the growth and sustainability of the sector through the best practice professional development and training.

KEY ACTIONS

·  Executive reporting to the ECIA NSW/ACT Board and CEO

·  Development of PD training courses in consultation with relevant service providers and organisations

·  Preparation, updating and implementation of the PD Calendar

·  Management of the Panel of Trainers

·  Development and management of service provider and trainer contracts

·  Development of customised PD/training requirements for the ECI and related sectors

·  Development of innovative and online training courses, forums and workshops

·  Identification of new and emerging PD requirements in the ECI and related sectors in the transition to NDIS in collaboration with the Manager Sector Development

·  Effective management of marketing of all ECIA NSW/ACT PD programs

·  Consultation with ECIA national and other chapters as applicable

·  Evaluation of all PD forums and workshops

·  Financial sustainability of PD Program.

Essential: Demonstrated:

·  Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact and communicate with stakeholders from Government, varying social contexts, professionals, practitioners and members and ECIA staff

·  Experience with the development and management of learning and development programs

·  Analytical and conceptual skills

·  Ability to work with Boards and committees

·  Knowledge and/or strong understanding and appreciation of, early childhood sectors, disability, community and community development environments

·  Organisational self directed person with management experience

·  Ability to lead and manage projects when applicable

·  Expertise in online training modules, webinars and the use of social media for education

·  Events management

·  A high level of computer literacy.

Desirable

·  Understanding of the current trends, issues and policy in ECI

·  Experience within a NFP community-based or professional membership-driven organisation

·  Experience in writing tenders

·  Community development knowledge, skills and capacity.
