Founded:

The Milken Institute School of Public Health was founded in July 1997 as the School of Public

Health and Health Services, bringing together three longstanding university programs in the

schools of medicine, business and education.

1,200+ students from nearly all 50 states and more than 38 nations pursuing undergraduate,

graduate and doctoral-level degrees in public health.

New Building Highlights(opening spring 2014):

For the first time in its history, theMilken Institute School of Public Healthwill have its seven academic departments and all programs and classrooms anchored at a single address in a state-of-the-art space that is targeted to be classified LEED Platinum. The new school building, located at 950 New Hampshire Ave., NW, on Washington Circle in Foggy Bottom, will serve as a center for academic achievement, analysis and discussion and will convene public health leaders from around the world. The architects are Boston-based Payette Architects assisted by D.C.-based associate architect Ayers Saint Gross Architects, and the contractor is Whiting Turner. Construction began in spring 2012. The estimated cost of the facility is $75 million, andit is financed by a combination of fundraising, debt (funded by the school’s operations) and reserve funds.
