PAC Executive - Meeting Minutes - September 19, 2017
Attendees: Nicholas Chiu (Principle), Andrea Zeitz (Vice-Principle), April Neville, Fatima Elamiri, Melanie Worobec (recorder).
These minutes are in draft form and will be adopted at the next PAC meeting if members are in agreement.
Agenda Item / Discussion / Action Items- Proposed PAC Bylaws
- Review of proposed draft PAC bylaws
- Accept bylaws at next meeting
- PAC Executive to review and provide comments prior to next meeting
- Principle’s Report (Main School)
- Attendance = 430 students (250 at Main School; 180 from Kingsford Smith)
- Thank you to all parents and staff for welcome to Kingsford Smith staff and students
- A number of new teachers have been hired; 1 unfilled position is still in hiring process
- Hot lunches:
- Weekly pizza lunch has started and will be held on Wednesdays. Funds raised from this will be for Main school
- Nick will be starting hot lunch on Thursdays (vendor: New York Foods). This is a school initiative (not PAC run)
- Safeteen Program (Grades 6 and 7) – Kingsford Smith had pre-booked workshops that focus on body image, stereotyping, bullying etc.
- Sept. 28 Kingsford Smith program is running workshops for grade 6 & 7 students
- Oct. 3 Parent invite will be held and invitation will be extended to Main school parents with grade 6 & 7 kids
- Red Cross Babysitting training
- Grade 6 and older students
- Training session will be offered on December 1 (Pro-D Day) 8:30 – 3:30 at cost of $60.00 + GST. Students will register via classroom teacher
- Money collection – Nick will keep fundraising money for PAC
Vice-Principle’s Report (Annex) / Annex:
- Attendance = 113 students; 6 divisions
- 6 new teachers have been hired; 1 unfilled position is still in hiring process
- Hot lunch program has started 3 days/week (vendor: Cest Mon Café). This is a PAC run initiative
Both Schools /
- Cross Country program has started and Terry Fox run is scheduled for Sept. 29
- Student Learning Grant – approx. $32.00/student and must be spent by January 31, 2018. Principle, teachers, PAC will be discussing how/whatto spend money on

- Fatima to follow-up with Kelly Ruth and Colleen re: setting up a fundraising projection spreadsheet
