Job Title: Kids Klub Intern

Mission/Authority
The essential purpose of Trail West is to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ to families. This is largely accomplished at Young Life camps through activities that illustrate certain aspects of Christ's life and teachings. Each activity conducted by Young Life staff in the camp environment is intended to convey a specific message about Christ, in a manner that is coordinated with other activities, leading to a continual spiritual experience during the week.
The duties of the Kids Klub intern are an integral part of the spiritual program of the camp. The intern must be able to convey a sense of Christ-like hospitality and concern as he/she relates to guests and staff. All staff members are expected to model Christian principles and the standards of Young Life at work and outside of work; staff members must represent Young Life positively and professionally within the local community.

The Kids Klub Intern is responsible for planning, implementing, directing and supervising the Kids Klub Program during the summer.

Essential Duties

1.  Adhere to the National Family Camp schedule and Mission Statement.

2.  Plan, schedule and implement the Kids Klub program activities and events for the month. Communicate with the Camp Director, Program Director and Property Staff to avoid scheduling conflicts.

3.  Attend morning staff meetings.

4.  Coordinate with the Work Crew Bosses and Summer Staff Coordinator the schedules of those Work Crew and Summer Staff members assigned to Kids Klub.

5.  Be prepared to train and supervise the Work Crew and Summer Staff assigned to Kids Klub.

6.  Communicate with guests regarding activities, schedules, concerns, etc.

7.  Purchase, or coordinate with Trail West, the purchase of program supplies.

8.  At the end of the month evaluations are prepared on each Work Crew and Summer Staff member by the Work Crew Bosses and Summer Staff Coordinator. You may contribute to these.

9.  Operate a Trail West owned school bus when scheduled with the safety of guests as #1 priority.

Qualifications

1.  Must display a mature and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

2.  Previous Young Life summer staff experience or equivalent.

3.  Acceptance of and compliance with Young life's statements of faith and mission purpose statement, and Young Life's policies and principles.

4.  Must be self-motivated, able to work and lead others with minimal supervision and possess patience, understanding and a willingness to learn and accept direction from property staff and assigned team.

5.  Must possess ability to remain calm in stressful situations and act appropriately to calm others.

6.  Must be assertive enough to control a crowd and handle emergency situations such accidents and injuries.

7.  Must be able to work flexible hours – often work will require you to be on-hand in the morning and in the evening.

8.  Must be willing and able to travel to Colorado during spring break to pass a written test, train and pass a driving test for your CO CDL license.

9.  Be a leader by example in matter of conduct as well as performance of duties
