NHS January Agenda
Reminders of Membership Requirements:
· Complete 10 in-school hours and 15 out-of-school hours each academic year INCLUDING contributing one hour of service to one chapter project per semester and one hour of service to one committee project each semester
· Attend all meetings unless excused at least one day in advance by an adviser
o Only one excused absence per school year is permitted without penalty
o Only one unexcused absence per school year is permitted without penalty
o Upon accumulating two unexcused absences, members will be referred to faculty council for review of membership status
Extracurricular Appreciation:
· On January 31st at 7:45am, we will be creating good luck baggies of M&Ms shaped like butterflies for everyone involved in the theatre production of the Little Mermaid. Meet in the NHS Storage Room C204.
Community Beautification:
· On January 20th at 4:30pm, we will be picking up left over Christmas decorations along the highway. Meet at 2802 Flint Rock Road #107, 78738. If you or anyone you know put up Christmas decorations along the road, be sure to have them taken down before January 20th if they are to be returned.
· On January 10th at 4:00pm, we will be sorting Terracycling in the NHS Storage Room C204.
Community Service:
· Crisis Ministries (107 Ranch Rd 620 S, Lakeway, TX 78734) will be taking volunteers every Wednesday from 5:30pm to 6:30pm or from 6:30pm to 7:30pm.
· On January 7th at 2:00pm, we be consulting with the Teen Advisory Board at the Bee Cave Community Library (4000 Galleria Pkwy, Bee Cave, TX 78738). Make sure to think of ways to make the library a fun place to learn and hang out. Contact Hunter (512-569-1313) for more information.
Faculty Appreciation:
· On Thursday January 5th from 8:00am to 8:30am, we will be hosting the Teacher Appreciation Breakfast in the Main Building’s Teacher Lounge A100. You will receive 30 minutes for bringing food and 30 minutes for staying to talk with faculty members.

Social Outreach
· On Saturday January 14th from 10:00am to 2:00pm, we will be aiding in Dress to Shine where we help individuals with special needs pick out a dress for Night to Shine. Meet at the Austin Rudge Bible Church (9300 Bee Cave Road, Austin, Texas 78733).
· Make sure to sign up for Special Needs Prom in February. Text Jessica (512-705-6584) or Katie (512-733-4184) for more details.
· Starting January 4th (goes on for eight weeks) from 5:30pm to 6:30pm, we will be helping with Special Olympics Basketball in the LTHS Annex Gym. Please plan to arrive to the first practice at 5:00pm for an orientation. Text Katie (512-733-4148) for any questions.
Kids
· On Thursday January 12th from 4:00pm to 5:00pm, we will be making Build a Bear Boxes and Signs in the NHS Storage Room C204. There will be 30 minutes of service per box/sign. Make sure to bring in Build a Bears for 15 minutes of service if there is a card attached with your name on it.
Tutoring
· Every Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00pm to 5:00pm we will be offering math tutoring at LTHS in M113.

Senior Citizens
· On January 21st, we will be helping with Bingo Night at Grace House (11825 Bee Cave Rd, Austin, TX 78738).

International Outreach:
· From January 17th to the 31st, we will be selling wristbands on A and B lunches on A days but only A lunch on B days. Meet at the table that will be set up during set lunches and you will be selling wristbands for $3 each to help refugee students in Austin.

Wellness Outreach:
· From January 3rd to the 27th, there will be a plastic bag drive for Micah 6th. We will be working with APES, and the plastic bags will be going to Micah 6 for people to use when carrying their goods.
· On January 28th from 9am to 1pm, we will be volunteering at Micah 6 (2203 San Antonio St). Carpooling will be available, and we can grab lunch afterwards!

Animal Outreach:
· On January 15th from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, we will be aiding the Thundering Paws Animal Sanctuary (11900 Fitzhugh Corners, Dripping Springs, TX 78620).
· On January 11th from 4-5pm, we will be creating pillows and blankets for animal shelters in the NHS Storage Room C204.

Spirit Committee:
· On Tuesday January 17th before and after school, we will be decorating the Annex Link windows. Bring life to the hallways with winter fun and positive messages. Meet in the Annex Link, and make sure to bring a smile; supplies will be provided.
